Player of the series Denesh Ramdin
was a happy man after his record 169
took the West Indies to an emphatic 91-
run victory over Bangladesh and a 3-0
sweep of the Dhaka Bank Cup at Warner
Park in St Kitts on Monday night.
Ramdin and Darren Bravo (124) took
the home team to 338 for seven off their
50 overs and Ravi Rampaul grabbed 4/29
as the visitors were restricted to 247 for
eight off 50 overs.
Ramdin who also won the Man-of-
the-Match award said it felt wonderful
to clean sweep the series.
"Of course getting the third highest
score and being called in line with Brian
Lara s 169 is also wonderful," Ramdin
"We came here with two wins and we
wanted to finish off the series strongly
a hand in achieving it as well. Bravo was
a perfect foil for me and both play spin
well, which worked in our favour.
"They had just two seamers and we
knew that once we settled it would be
difficult to get wickets with the old ball
and we would prosper."
Rampaul, who was the best bowler in
the recent Caribbean Premier League
(CPL) T20 tournament with 18 wickets,
broke the back of the Bangladeshi bat-
After losing two wickets with just two
runs on the board, it looked like another
embarrassment from the Tigers, but skip-
per Mushfiqur Rahim and opener Tamim
Iqbal ensured some respectability.
They added 99 runs for the third wicket
before Iqbal (55) was bowled by Sunil
Narine to leave the floodgates open. He
faced 62 balls and struck nine fours.
When Mushfiqur fell for 72 off 113 balls
with eight fours, the game was over.
Wickets fell at regular intervals, and it
was just a matter of time,
Earlier, Dwayne Bravo won the toss
and decided to take first strike.
The home team got into immediate
trouble when both openers, Lendl Sim-
mons and Chris Gayle, were dismissed
within the first five overs.
Simmons (6) hit a boundary in the first
over but was dismissed by Mashrafe Mor-
taza while Gayle also made six before
edging Al-Amin Hossain to wicket keeper
But that was all the success in the early
part of the innings as Ramdin and Bravo
cut loose to set up an emphatic win for
the West Indies.

ST JOHN'S---Three uncapped
players have been named on
a squad of West Indies women
cricketers to attend a training
camp from today ahead of the
home series against New
The uncapped players are
Shamilia Connell, Hayley
Matthew and Jodian Morgan
who will train with the squad
until September 8 in Barbados
and St Kitts. Connell is a quick
bowler from Barbados;
Matthew also plays for Barba-
dos as an off-spinning all-
rounder and specialist bat Mor-
gan plays for Jamaica.
West Indies and New
Zealand women will play One-
Day Internationals---the first
three of which count as part of
the ICC Women s Champi-
onship---on September 12, 14,

als will be played on September

With three wins under their belts in the limited
overs series, the West Indies will turn to their lone
T20 clash tonight against Bangladesh at Warner Park
in St Kitts, looking to continue their winning ways.
The home team has completely dominated the visitors
thus far, taking the Dhaka Bank Cup 3-0. They sealed
the deal on Monday with a 91-run win after a brilliant
record breaking innings off 169 by Denesh Ramdin. The
wicketkeeper/batsman will be in the T20 team tonight
facing the Tigers but his accomplice Darren Bravo, who
got 124 in the third match, will be on a flight home,
after not making the cut for the T20 team.
Yesterday, the new additions to the team had a training
session at Warner Park and they too will be anxious to
get at the Bangladeshis, who had suffered with the bat
on tour so far. Darren Sammy will lead the team and
will have on board the West Indies Test captain Denesh
Ramdin and the West Indies ODI captain Dwayne Bravo.
Ramdin speaking about the upcoming game said: "We
recently played CPL matches here and most of the guys
if not all in the squad have experience of playing at this
small venue. We are coming off three wins and those
new players would be looking to join in and account for
another win as well. We have a very good T20 team
and we are confident of continuing the winning ways
leading up to the two Test matches later on in the series."
The Bangladeshis do not have a proud record in T20
cricket but would take heart from the fact that their
batting improved in the last ODI. Their bowling was
slaughtered on the small ground but their players would
have gained some experience in playing at the venue.
Match time is 8pm and a much bigger crowd is expect-
ed to show for this match, than what was seen for the
West Indies---Darren Sammy (captain), Sulieman Benn,
Dwayne Bravo, Sheldon Cottrell, Andre Fletcher, Chris
Gayle, Sunil Narine, Kieron Pollard, Denesh Ramdin,
Andre Russell, Krishmar Santokie, Lendl Simmons and
Bangladesh---Mushfiqur Rahim (capt), Abdul Razzak,
Al-Amin Hossain, Anamul Haque, Imrul Kayes, Mah-
mudullah, Mohammed Mithun, Mashrafe Mortaza,
Mominul Haque, Nasir Hossain, Rubel Hossain,
Shamshur Rahman, Taijul Islam, Sohag Gazi, Tamim
Iqbal and Taskin Ahmed. (VM)
