Nekevah Rescue Centre will host a concert
on November 7 at Divine Encounter Fellow-
ship Ministries International, Ragoo Road,
D Abadie, in honour of International Chil-
dren s Day and in aid of battered women.
Founder Rev Dr Joycelyn Duncan said the
nation s children will be represented by 27
schools scheduled to participate in the event.
She added, over 30 organisations in east
Trinidad committed their support as spon-
soring partners in the venture.
"So many children are affected by domestic
violence, it gives pleasure to include them in
this tribute," Duncan told the T&T Guardian.
She said some of the entertainment will be
provided by Trinity East Boys Orchestra, Arima
Boys Government Primary choir, other vocalists
and instrumentalists as well as a surprise
Nekevah Rescue Centre is a registered NGO
which was founded on October 19, 2006. It
was inspired by an outreach effort by the Tri-
umphant Women Ministry of Divine Encounter
Fellowship Church, with a hotline made avail-
able to minister to affected women. That effort
later evolved into a full-fledged rescue centre.
This organisation is headed by a board of ten
directors and managed by a committee of ten,
all of whom are volunteers.
Duncan explained the mission of Nekevah
Rescue Centre is to facilitate the rehabilitation
of women through programmes aimed at
reshaping their moral and ethical values, by
providing help for their emotional, spiritual,
and physical well-being.
"We provide help by developing the financial
management skills of our clients, and providing
educational and recreational facilities, thus
empowering them to build their lives, head
better families and communities," said Duncan.
The centre also offers training programmes
to help women enhance their opportunities
They also receive counselling services to
build their self-esteem and healthy relation-

Sometimes it s difficult to find
the right person to date and the
event Izza Lime...Some are vibesin,
all are thanking, is designed to help
with just this. The unique, drinks-
inclusive mixer intended for not
only Christ-centred singles but
married couples as well was con-
ceptualised by hospitality consult-
ant Lisa Beckles.
Beckles, who herself is single, has
been involved in hospitality for a
number of years and has worked
throughout the Caribbean, training
people in the field. She told the T&T
Guardian during a telephone inter-
view that she was inspired to create
a space where single people who are
at least 21, could meet in a quiet
environment with the right ambience
and where there was no pressure to
An avid Christian, Beckles used
concerts as an example where men
and women may notice each other
but could not talk or truly get to
know each other because of the loud
music. She will eliminate the noise
by hosting the event at her house in
Sam Boucaud, Santa Cruz, Trinidad.
The event, which was originally
to be held on August 30, was can-
celled because she became critically
ill and had major surgery. Having
recovered she hopes to host the party
on November 8.
Singles can look forward to a talk
show entitled Who I Am, in which
ticket holders would have a chance
to share about themselves, a testi-
mony segment for which a prize
would be given and a grand door
prize of a "selfie" weekend stay at
the cozy Heritage Inn in Cascade.
There will also be a separate area
for married couples to socialise with
each other as Beckles believes that
too often married couples do not get
time to go out and spend quality
time with like-minded people. She
said even if you re a shy person it s
no problem as you will be met at
the door and escorted in and intro-
duced directly to a group.
