Applications are invited from suitably qualified nationals of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago for employment, on contract
for a period of three (3) years, in the following positions in the Ministry of Science and Technology.
The Business Analyst (Projects, Policy and Consulting Services) analyses complex
business problems and processes as well as conceptualising and proposing innovative
ICT solutions to address the business requirements, consistent with prevailing
Government policies. The incumbent will be required to provide support in the areas
of implementation and monitoring for the resulting programmes, projects and policies.
o A Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration/Management, Computer Science
or Engineering, Policy Science, Information Technology or Economics.
o Training in project management, business management or evidence of substantial
ICT business knowledge is essential.
o At least three (3) years of relevant experience at the professional level with direct
involvement in the ICT business and policy development environment.
The Manager Corporate Communications is required to develop, implement, direct
and evaluate the Ministry's/Department's marketing and communications strategies
and programmes including public relations, Media relations, web site content and the
Ministry's/Department's identity/image programme. Duties include planning, organ-
ising, directing and coordinating the work of staff engaged in the performance of
Responsibilities also include using communications as a vital component of the over-
all change management programme in support of the Ministry's/Department's initia-
tives amongst internal stakeholders and to inform clients, employees and the general
public of initiatives and policies of government and of the Ministry/Department.
o Minimum of eight (8) years' experience in the fields of Corporate
Communications or Public Relations or Media Relations and Advertising.
o Training as evidence by a recognised University Degree in Communications
Studies or a post graduate Diploma in a related field.
The Database Administrator reports to the Information Technology Manager. This
position is responsible for the daily maintenance of the databases for all applications
which include applying product patches and fixes, creation and execution of data con-
version and interface programs, administration, technical troubleshooting of backups
and developing support procedures for the Ministry of Science and Technology.
o A recognised Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or Information Technology
or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
o At least five (5) years' experience in database administration with comprehensive
knowledge of ORACLE Database (SQL Programming/ Administration) and/or
Microsoft SQL Server and/or MySQL.
o Excellent database performance tuning and capacity planning skills.
o Knowledge of database management systems including storage, structure, data
models, report-writers, query languages and schemes.
o Competency in the administration of a major database platform.
o At least five (5) years' experience in a file-server/client-server environment.
o Additional certification in database management (e.g. Oracle Certified
Professional) would be an asset.
The Database Technician reports to the Database Administrator, Information
Technology Unit of the Ministry of Science and Technology. The Database
Technician is responsible for the daily maintenance of databases and applications.
The Database Technician applies product patches and fixes, creates and executes data
conversion and interface programmes, troubleshoots, and develops support proce-
dures for use in database administration.
o An recognised Associate Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology
or Information System Design, or any equivalent combination of experience and training.
o Two (2) years' experience in database administration with knowledge of the
Microsoft SQL Server environment, and/or Oracle Database, and/or MySQL.
o Knowledge of database management systems, including storage, structure, data
models, report writers, query languages and schemes.
o Competence in the administration of database platforms.
o Two Years' experience in a file-server/client-server environment.
o Database performance tuning and capacity planning skills.
o Sound interpersonal and human relations skills.
The incumbent is responsible for assisting the Senior Specialist (ST) with the Science
and Technology portfolio of the Ministry of Science and Technology (MST). Located
in the Research and Strategy Division, the Specialist assists with Technical Oversight,
Policy Advice and Guidance as well as Research and Measurement support to the
Division, the Ministry of Science and Technology as well as the Government of the
Republic of Trinidad and Tobago.
o Training as evidence by a recognised University Degree in a Scientific,
Technological field or related field e.g. Engineering, Physics, etc.
o At least five (5) years of experience in the Science, Technology and Innovation
o At least two (2) to three (3) years of experience in Science, Technology and
Innovation Policy and Management
