The vision of the company is essentially that of
its "de facto founder" 100 years ago when he as-
sisted the original oil pioneer, Randolph Rust, by
inviting him to drill successfully on lands adjacent
to his homestead where he observed oil seepage.
While Guayaguayare/Mayaro has remained the
focal region, the vision has shifted nationwide,
hence the company's forays into steel mills, con-
struction, runaway rehabilitation, industrial estate
infrastructure, commercial and home construction,
water (winning and service), oil production and
secondary recover in Palo Seco, manufacturing in
Arima and the provision of services to the yacht-
ing and energy-based community at Chaguara-
However, the vehicle has never shifted from the
Guayaguayare district, or from the energy sector.
Understandably, the company's strategy has had
to respond to change as the National Economy
and Governmental Structure have evolved.
Originally they served as contractors and as a
conduit for skilled labour and basic services across
the entire spectrum in the Guayaguayare district
for Trinidad, Leasehold Limited/Texaco Incorpo-
East Coast Drilling and Workover Services Ltd's
association with Amoco began (curiously enough)
with a tyre changing incident when two of the ex-
ecutives, Captain Dick Eaton and Mr Jim Noresky
were stranded along the Guayaguayare/Mayaro
road on one of their first site visits. This led to
subcontracts of their S.M. major contracts in con-
struction of their Galeota facility; the provision of
land-based and off-shore services, skilled labour,
technicians and clerical and supervisory personnel.
