The top three finishers from last year's
National Lotteries Control Board (NLCB)
Jungle Jackpot Mountain Bike Race are set
to do battle when this year's edition pedals
off on December 7 at the Arboretum,
Chaguaramas, from 8 am.
Team Beacon rider Jason Costelloe won
the elite one category, ahead of teenager Peter
Sellier (Mike's Bikes) and Rishi Ramlalack
(Mike's Bikes). Tamiko Butler (Mike's Bikes)
from Antigua and Barbuda will headline the
ladies division. Other riders carded to compete
are Ryan Mendes (Slipstream), Dimitri Payne
(Unattached) and Ryan Chin (Northern
Over $13,000 is up for grabs in the 3.6km
course, with each category of riders completing
a different number of laps. The elite one riders
will attempt four laps and an optional power-
ball lap. The masters 40+, masters 50+ and
the 19-39 age group will attempt two laps,
while the ladies, juniors 17-18, juveniles 15-
16 and tinymites 13-14 will pedal for one lap.
The Under-13 riders will attempt a separate
short course. Special prizes will be rewarded
for the youngest to finish (shrimps), oldest
lady to finish (jamette), heaviest to finish (big
belly) and last to finish (morocoy).
At a press conference yesterday at Mike's
Bikes, Ariapita Avenue, Port-of-Spain, race
promoter Michael Phillips stated that this
race comes at a great time as it follows the
recent announcement by the Tourism Devel-
opment Company (TDC) to upgrade the
country's bike and hiking trails.
Phillips said: "It is great for us to have this

T&T Volleyball Federation Championship Divi-

at Jean Pierre Complex, Mucurapo on Wednesday

while two hours earlier, SUVA I and West Side
Stars battled for third spot.
This after Glamorgan outplayed SUVA 25-19,
25-23, 11-25, 25-22 and Technocrats battled past
West Side Stars 25-19, 27-25, 24-26, 21-25, 16-
14 in their respective semifinals at the same venue
on Monday night.
In the quarterfinals, Glamorgan came from
behind to beat University of T&T 22-25, 25-20,
25-12, 22-25, 17-15; Technocrats defeated SEPoS,
13-25, 25-20, 25-22, 25-18; SUVA I dumped Zenith
while West Side Stars I beat West Side Stars II.
