Nine retired permanent secretaries were hon-
oured for their service to the nation at the Hilton
Trinidad last month.
A release issued by the Ministry of Public
Administration yesterday said the event was held
to recognise "their dedicated career with, and
contribution to, the public service."
Head of the Public Service and permanent sec-
retary to the Prime Minister Reynold Cooper
acknowledged the integral role played by the
retirees in the development of the public service
and the country.
He said the event provided an opportunity "to
celebrate their achievements and to thank them
for their contributions."
Public Administration Minister Carolyn Seep-
ersad-Bachan, who also spoke, urged them to
"fully embrace the theme of the event---new
beginnings---and to take the opportunities afforded
in retirement to do the things about which there
are most passionate."
The event is held biennially, the release added.
