Percella faces what should be a simple
task in the Maiden 2-y-o Stakes over six
furlongs of Kempton polytrack tonight,
judged on her time-handicap mark in a
hot seven furlongs race at Leicester during
Why did trainer Hughie Morrison run
this Sir Percy filly next time on Wolver-
hampton Tapeta over the minimum trip?
Punters were of a similar mind to myself
and Percella was heavily-backed into
favouritsm but, not surprisingly, didn t have
necessary pace when it quickened down
Presumably Hughie, a shrewd cookie who
must never be underestimated, is delighted
to find this opportunity because the fillies
allowance of 5lbs should weigh heavily
against a clutch of ordinary-looking rivals.
Percella really should win and I ll be letting
my bookie know I ve been; bigger the odds
Jaganory needs only to run anything like
in the nursery handicap over seven furlongs,
course form over a furlong less, back in
September, is way superior to any of six
rivals; veteran jockey John Egan rode this
David Evans-trained Dylan Thomas colt
and, significantly, the Welshman has been
among the winners recently.
Three runs since haven t seen Jaganory
replicate the TH mark but Evans is crafty
and so is Egan; read into that what you like!
Despite top-weight, which he merits,
Jaganory is worth punting at huge odds;
faint heart never won fair lady!
Sighora, one of eight "decs" for the mile
Maiden Stakes, hasn t been out since failing
to justify favourism 215 days ago but is clear
"best-in" and advantaged by a 5lbs fillies
allowance; definitely worth chancing with

Theatrical Star defied top weight in gutsy
fashion to take the plaudits in the Axio Special
Works Handicap Chase at Fontwell, yesterday.
Hard as Global Power tried to get on terms in
the closing stages, the Colin Tizzard-trained
gelding would not give way.
Fruity O Rooney set the pace until Brendan
Powell decided to press for the lead six fences
from the finish and the 5--4 favourite maintained
the gallop to score by a neck.
Connections might consider a crack at the
Crabbie s Grand National if the eight-year-old
can get higher up the ratings.
Tizzard s son and assistant, Joe, said: "He d
come on for his run over hurdles at Cheltenham
and did it nicely. We ll see what the handicapper
does to him and then pick a race for him.
"We ve got the Grand National in the back of
our minds, but he d probably need to win again
and go up (in the ratings) again.
"There s no definite plan for him. He had a
hard enough race, so he probably wont run again
until sometime in the new year."
The Diana Grissell-trained Sitting Back (16--1)
ran his rivals into the ground when making all of
the running to capture the 32RedPoker.com Hand-
Liam Treadwell s partner put in a solid round
of jumping to score by eight lengths from Bob
Will. Head Spin, the 4--5 favourite, was six lengths
away in third.
Bidourey (5--2) showed a good attitude to make
a winning debut over jumps in the 32Red On The
App Store Juvenile Hurdle.
The French purchase had got off the mark for
trainer David Pipe in a Ffos Las bumper a month
ago and confirmed that promise with a hard-
He was pushed all the way by Norse Legend
and Ryeolliean but kept on all the way to the line
for Tom Scudamore to score by a respective length
and three-quarters and a neck.
"He s big and a little bit more of a store horse,
but he certainly knows where the winning line
is," Scudamore told At The Races.
"He was very professional, very neat and a
really likeable type."
Meetmeatthemoon, runner-up over the course
and distance on her jumps debut last month, duly
went one better in the 32Red Mares Novices

Morello Royale looked a danger but the 7--4
favourite kept that rival at bay to prevail by four
lengths. It was a further 20 lengths back to the
third horse, Blameitalonmyroots.
Ballyheigue Bay (4--1) put up a brave frontrun-
ning display to come out on top in the 32Red.com
Novices Limited Handicap Chase.
Chris Gordon s seven-year-old, having his first
run over fences, jumped well for most of the way
under Tom Cannon and had enough in reserve
to hold Letbeso by a length and a half.
Aficionado (9--4 favourite) was driven into the
lead at the final flight by 5lb claimer Christopher
Ward and went on to take the JAM Electrical Sup-
porting Love You Hospital Handicap Hurdle for
trainer Dr Richard Newland by two and a quarter
lengths from Mr Fickle.
Upham Running (16--1) gave trainer Katie Buck-
ett her first winner for 238 days when taking the

under 5lb claiming conditional Kieron Edgar.
Monbeg Dude is among 42
runners remaining in con-
tention for the Coral Welsh
Grand National at Chepstow
on December 27 following the
latest confirmation stage.
If all goes according to plan,
the race is very much the aim
for 2012 winner Monbeg Dude.
His trainer Michael Scud-
amore explained: "We were
delighted with his run in the
Hennessy Gold Cup---finishing
fourth on testing ground and on
a trip sharp enough for him.
"He s come out of the race in
great form and now we will start
to build him back up to his best
for December 27."
Monbeg Dude could be joined
by last year s winner Mountain-
ous, trained by Richard Lee, and
the Kim Bailey-trained Harry
Champion Trainer Paul
Nicholls retains three entries
with Unioniste, Hawkes Point
and Benvolio still engaged.
Last Saturday s Coral Welsh
Grand National Trial Handicap
Chase run over three miles saw
the Welsh-trained Rebeccas
Choice narrowly defeat David
Pipe s Amigo with Hawkes Point
taking third from Relax and
Mountainous and all are still in
contention for the contest.
The winner s trainer Dai
Burchell said: "We were hoping
for a place last Saturday in the
Coral Welsh Grand National
Trial and Robert said we were
all out but we won it, what more
can we do?
"Depending if we make the
split, Rebeccas Choice will be
there to win it and will be spot-
on for the day."
Among those taken out were
Sam Winner, Merry King, Hou-
blon Des Obeaux and The Young

ners for the Osborne House Rel-
keel Hurdle at Cheltenham on
Harry Fry s nine-year-old was
top of the tree when beating
Overturn in the 2012 Champion
Hurdle, and finished second to
Hurricane Fly 12 months later.
Sent chasing last season, he
never recovered from an early
mistake in the Arkle at Chel-
tenham in March and now finds
himself back over hurdles.
Rock On Ruby made a pleas-
ing return to action at Wincan-
ton and would be stepping back
up in trip - indeed his last ven-
ture over this track and trip saw
him finish second to Bobs Worth
in a Grade Two novice hurdle
in early 2011.
Melodic Rendezvous is also
in the mix after the race was
reopened for a further 24 hours
after attracting just nine initial
entries. Trainer Jeremy Scott has
also entered him over fences at
Bangor on Friday.
David Pipe s Dell Arca may
revert to hurdles having so far
failed to win over fences this
In-form Philip Hobbs has
entered Greatwood Hurdle win-
ner Garde La Victoire, while
Nigel Twiston-Davies has given
the enigmatic Mad Moose the
Nicky Henderson may run
Volnay De Thaix, with Hughie
Morrison s Brother Brian another
smart horse in the shake-up.
Lac Fontana, Peckhamecho,
Ulzana s Raid and Saffron Wells
are the other possibles.

Shanahan s King Of The Picts,
who has also been given the
option of the International Hur-
dle on the same card.
