Humans should be worried about the
threat posed by artificial Intelligence,
Bill Gates has said.
The Microsoft founder said he didn't
understand people who were not
troubled by the possibility that AI could
grow too strong for people to control.
Gates contradicted one of Microsoft
Research's chiefs, Eric Horvitz, who has
said he "fundamentally" did not see AI
as a threat.
During an "ask me anything"question
and answer session on Reddit, Mr
Gates wrote: "I am in the camp that is
concerned about super intelligence.
First the machines will do a lot of jobs
for us and not be super intelligent. That
should be positive if we manage it well.
"A few decades after that though the
intelligence is strong enough to be a
concern. I agree with Elon Musk and
some others on this and don't
understand why some people are not

CHOW MEIN PIES
2 tbsp soya sauce
1 tbsp sherry or rum (optional)
2 tbsp oyster sauce
1 tsp sesame oil
3 cloves, garlic minced
1 tbsp ginger, shredded
1 tsp Chinese chili sauce
1 tsp cornstarch or potato flour diluted in 1/4 cup
1 tbsp vegetable oil
1 cup carrots, julienned
1 cup cabbage, shredded
2 cups patchoi, cut into thin shreds
1 cup baby corn, thinly sliced
1/2 cup sliced water chestnuts
1/2 cup sliced chives
1/2 recipe dough (see below)
In a small bowl combine 1/8 cup water, sherry if
using, soy sauce, sesame oil and oyster sauce. Combine
cornstarch and remaining water set aside.
In a wok or skillet heat oil, add ginger and garlic and
stir fry until fragrant, add carrots, cabbage, patchoi, and
water chestnuts, stir and fry until vegetables are tender
crisp, add corn and sauce and stir well, add cornstarch
mixture and cook until thick, remove and cool.
Serves 4 to 6
For the dough
41/2 cups all purpose flour
1 pkg instant yeast (one tbsp)
1 cup milk, heated to 120F
1/3 cup sugar
1/3 cup butter
1 tsp salt
In a mixer bowl combine 2 cups flour, and the yeast.
Heat milk, butter, sugar and salt to 115 --120 F add to

turn onto a floured surface and knead to make a
moderately stiff dough that is smooth and elastic,
about 6 to 8 minutes.
Place in a greased bowl and cover and rise until
doubled in bulk. (45 minutes)
Punch down, divide in half and rest dough for 10

Roll each piece into a 4-inch circle, place about one
tablespoon of filing in the centre of the lower half. Fold
over and seal, pinching the edges together, using a little
water if necessary. Place on a greased baking sheet.
Repeat until all dough and filling are used up.
Bake in a preheated 375F oven for 15 to 20 minutes
until lightly browned.

Vegetable oil for frying
Peel cassava, cut into 3-inch strips.
Heat oil deep fry cassava strips until golden and crunchy.
Salt and serve with chadon beni mayo.
CHADON BENI MAYO
1/2 cup low fat mayo
1 tbsp chadon beni, finely chopped
1 clove garlic, minced.
1/2 tsp pepper sauce.
Combine all the ingredients
and cover, refrigerate until
ready for use.
• Makes 24 turnovers
