The Market Analyst/Economist would be required to assist in conducting marketing and social research undertakings
in furtherance of the achievement of the strategic goals and objectives of the Tourism Development Company (TDC).
The primary focus is to facilitate the development and marketing of the country ’s tourism product in order to deliver
a superior tourism experience which provides the greatest sustainable value for all stakeholders. Critical to the
achievement of this mission is the generation of vital information to guide the pursuit of business initiatives of the
Tourism Development Company. The position of Market Analyst/Economist entails the gathering , analysis and
evaluation of relevant information and statistical data, which contribute to the development of the tourism industry, in
order to inform management and the decision making process at the TDC.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES ..........................................................................
Works closely with internal departments and external organizations for the implementation of market research
studies and the compilation of tourism statistics.
Identifies trends and developments pertinent to the business development needs of the TDC.
Assists in the sourcing , acquiring and analyzing of technical information for the TDC.
Assists in the design, development and commissioning of all research initiatives undertaken by the TDC.
Oversees the data processing procedures and data validation for all ongoing Departing Visitor Surveys and any
ad hoc research projects conducted by the TDC.
Generates quality deliverables and produces research publications, reports and presentations in a timely and
Assists in organizing and implementing plans and programmes to determine the effectiveness of the TDC's
tourism marketing and tourism development initiatives.
Undertakes and/or assists in special assignments and projects as may be required from time to time.
Any related functions and responsibilities that may be consistent with the role of the Market Analyst/Economist.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE ......................................................................................
Bachelor’s Degree in Economics or related discipline, with an emphasis on research and/or statistics and
At least two (2) years working experience in a research and data gathering environment.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES .............................................................................................................
Proficient in statistical and data mining methodologies
Good analytical, report writing and presentation skills
Strong interest in analytical work and working with numbers
Good problem solving skills
Self motivated, meticulous and must be able to work in teams
A working knowledge of statistical software/tools (eg . SPSS, SAS, Excel and Access) would be an asset

Create an Emergency Plan:
I Meet with household members to discuss how to respond to each disas-
ter that could occur.
I Draw a floor plan of your home. Mark two escape routes from each room.
I Practise an emergency evacuation drill at least two times a year.

- Plastic sheeting and duct tape
- Canned goods, non-perishable foods and a non-electric can open-
- Drinking water
- Any special dietary food if required
- Identification, cash, valuable papers, insurance policies and pho-
- Battery-operated radio with extra batteries
- Personal hygiene items
- Disposable utensils
- Infant-care items
- Flashlight and extra batteries
- Easy carrying container (bag) for all items.
Prepare a First Aid kit:
I Prescription medications, betadine solution, gauze bandages, adhesive
tape, sterile pads, band aids, triangular bandages, safety scissors, non-
prescription medication, sun screen, insect repellent, non-latex gloves,
absorbent compress 5x9 dressing, adhesive bandages (assorted sizes),
antiseptic wipes, antibiotic ointment packets, etc.
Prepare an Emergency Car Kit:
I Battery powered radio (with extra batteries), flashlight (with extra bat-
teries), sleeping bags or blankets, first-aid kit and manual, bottled water,
non-perishable high energy foods such as granola bars, raisins and
peanut butter, booster cables, a fire extinguisher, maps, shovel, tyre
repair kit and pump and flares.
