Remember Christ today
Millions of people around the world celebrate Good Friday but how
many devote a small period on this day to meditate, pray and
Jesus Christ died for our sins but when we ignore the spiritual
meaning of his crucifixion and continue to reap benefits from our
improper and immoral actions we repeatedly crucify him every day.
T&T seems to be spiralling out of control. Everyday we are greeted
with news of murder and corruption. School children are running sex
rings and committing other crimes simply because they can get away
We need to re-evaluate ourselves as a people and figure out where
we are heading. One way of doing so is to recommit ourselves to the
spiritual ideals taught by the masters, one being Jesus the Christ who
died for our sins.
Let us think of each other instead of ourselves. Remember that
every action has a reaction and when we do wrong to benefit
ourselves, society is negatively affected.
Today is Good Friday. Meditate. Remember Christ today. Remember
that our country needs a spiritual healing.
Jesus, the final sacrifice
In the beginning God created the world as we know it
today. He also created man and woman. He gave laws to the
man of what to eat and what not to eat from the Garden of
Eden. Satan deceived Eve, the woman. When the woman
saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was a
delight to the eyes, and that the tree was desirable to make
one wise, she took from its fruit and ate, and she gave also
to her husband, and he ate.
God is a holy God and cannot tolerate sin. Disobedience is
sin. So God drove them out of the Garden of Eden to fend for
God made a plan to reconcile man to himself through his
son Jesus the Christ.
The sins of man grew rapidly and God had to destroy the
earth by a flood. Only Noah and his family were saved.
After man multiplied the earth again, God raised up Moses
to be a leader among his chosen people, Israel. He gave laws
to kill certain animals as sacrifices for their sins, and burn
them. Hebrews 9:22 says, without the shedding of blood
there is no remission (forgiveness) of sins. By doing this
once a year on the day of atonement, their sins would be
forgiven. The priests made the sacrifices.
About six hundred years before the Christ came into the
world, Isaiah a prophet in the old testament, prophesied that
Christ would come to die for the sins of the world. In the
fullness of time God sent forth his son into the world to
come and die for the sins of the world.
The feast of Passover drew near and the priests and
scribes sought to kill him. The feast of the Passover was
ordained by God and he instructed the Jewish people to
commemorate the Passover every year, forever.
Jesus became the Passover lamb for the sins of the world.
No more killing of lambs is required. He was killed during
Passover to be the Passover lamb for the world.
Caiaphas, the high priest, gave counsel to the Jews that it
was expedient that one man should die for the people. Thus
Jesus was the man who died for the sins of the people of
It was during the pagan festival of Easter, which Herod the
king celebrated, that Jesus was held, crucified and killed. It
was the feast of the Passover according to the Jewish
Thus Christians should be celebrating Passover and
Resurrection Sunday, as Christ became our Passover. Jesus
Christ is the Lamb of God. When we accept Christ as our
Lord and savior and ask the Lord to forgive our sins and lay
down our life and begin to follow Jesus, walking in holiness
and obedience, God sees the blood of His son covering our
sins and accepts us.
To Christ be all the honour, glory and praise.
People must rebel
to get respect
The celestial has scattered its salt on the
earth. This salt appears in the form of the
people, the plants and animals, all forms of
biotic life including the strange and esoteric:
fungi, unicellular organisms, bacteria, algae and
microbes of the deep sea so fantastic as to defy
The great tragedy of the modern planet is the
flagellation of these salted forms of life, the
beating and washing out of their salt by the
predominant world economic systems and their
puppet overseers, modern liberal democratic
But if we have no salt upon the earth, what
have we? Jesus Christ said it best: "Ye are the
salt of the earth; but if the salt has lost its
savour, wherewith shall it be salted? It is
thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast
out, and to be trodden under foot of men."
In the name of progress, development, our
modern government's dream is to wash out the
salt from the people, the lands and the
communities, sanitise them, make them,
saltless, brakish, bland, edible for consumption
by the predominant global economic order. To
make saltless civilisations fit for nothing.
They want to wash out the "ness" out of
Syrian-ness; out of Chinese-ness; out of
European-ness; out of Tobagonian-ness; out of
African-ness; out of Indian-ness; out of Spanish-

economic identities; their lands and

Every primary school must be equipped with
the "national" curriculum. To wash out the
geniuses, the knowledge of locality, of the salt
of their ancestry, from the heads of our children.
The "bright" ones are so bright they become

clones of the global economic order. Their job?
To wash the identity, the salt from the people
and their economies, their ecologies, the better
to eat them up.
They have become clones of the colonial
masters, who, like socouyants, could bear no

Revolution is terror. He ain't dead yet? Put him
in jail, hire a sprang to get rid of him.
Do you think buying out the churches, the

The people must rebel to protect and grow
their identities, their economies, their ecologies,
the saltiness of their salt. Rebel until their
clone-headed governments learn, respect their
ancestries, their economies, their sense of self,
worth, being. Without your salt, you have no
identity, no economy, no community, no ecology,
no sturdy grain to build a civilisation.
We are each ingrained with our unique,
inimitable blend of celestial salt. Do not sell this
out. Money must not buy it.
