Lennox Arthur Persad (LAP) came from humble beginnings - a country boy
from Siparia, in South Trinidad. He tended to the farm animals that he was
entrusted with, to ensure that his mother and siblings were well fed daily.
Lennox was the son of a widow and the seventh child of eight siblings. His eld-
est sister, Lady Jean Ramsey, a revered Resident of Barbados, shared fond
memories of caring for her baby brother, Len, and being there to take him to
school with her on his first day. Len, a bright eyed, little boy, wearing a neatly
pressed shirt and khaki shorts, was anxious and excited to begin his life of for-
In his family, Len's mother, Granny Claudia Persad, was a teacher and thus,
Education was seen as a way out to guarantee success in life. Lennox followed
the examples of his older siblings and studied diligently, in the hope of earning
an Educational Scholarship from Dr. Edward Lee, DDS. His older siblings went
on to study in the United Kingdom and became very successful in their respec-
tive careers worldwide.
As a young child, LAP faced tremendous trials and challenges, and developed
a strong, successful work ethic. LAP suffered the loss of his father in a truck-
ing accident, struggled in a single parent home with many siblings and later,
missed the Dr. Edward Lee, DDS Educational Scholarship (by three or four
points) that his older siblings had earned and used to establish successful
careers around the world. The irony of it all is later, LAP met and married the
niece of Dr. Edward Lee, DDS, Pamela Alison Lee, a beautiful, brilliant, charis-
matic wife and help mate.
LAP began his formal working career, as a Shop Attendant at Seesaran's
Grocery and worked his way up. Later, LAP was hired as a Bookkeeper by Mr.
Malcolm Antonio, at the Ministry of Works and soon after, he was promoted to
Draftsman. LAP developed a strong work ethic by that time. Together, with
Pamela Lee, they became a powerhouse couple - among the most influential
people in this country, with regards to business and politics in the 1970's and
onwards. He was self-taught with the help of Pamela Lee and he developed a
great deal of knowledge in various industries. LAP was such an extraordinary
Car Salesman, that many would joke about there being NO MORE CARS on
the lot to sell when LAP was around. LAP continued on to be a Salesman at
Industrial Agencies Limited (IAL), who consistently exceeded his monthly sales
