The surprise guest of the UNC s St
Helena night last Friday might have
been former ILP deputy leader Anna
Deonarine, who put a verbal beating
on her former boss Jack Warner. But it was UNC
deputy leader Dr Roodal Moonilal who started the
surprises and sharing of "licks."
UNC blows for
"Dat man (Warner) is the personification
of a neemakharam!" Moonilal thundered
to approving roars.
"Bas give him UNC safest seat, Kamla
give him the biggest portfolio. He went by
her home and her sister and her children
call him Uncle Jack. They didn t know it was Uncle
Neemakharam! They gave him food and he pelt them
with the plate."
The medium-sized auditorium of St Helena Hindu
School was filled to overflowing for the UNC s meeting.
Outside, an equally large crowd which couldn t get
inside the auditorium crowded the road, viewing pro-
ceedings on a big screen. It was heartland UNC support,
including many middle aged and elderly, some with
canes or being assisted.
Any garment bearing UNC s signature yellow was
in order, no matter the message: "Kamla say Country
First," "Jairam Seemungal---La Horquetta Talparo," "Dr
Roodal Moonilal Oropouche East Sunday Cricket 2015,"
"A Beer is a Carib," "Brasil!"
UNC s designated "warrior" on the trail of Warner,
deputy leader Moonilal, led the charge. "He come
with comess, lies and recording---he have more record-
ing than Lata Mangeshkar and Kenny Rogers!"
"You could attack us (MPs) but not our wives, hus-
bands and family. But he can t draw the line---he mus
be thief the line too! Dat fella can t even walk in front
American Stores, much less the US Embassy!"
Loud guffaws, which halted as Moonilal sprung his
"surprise": "Dr Rowley, did Warner call you from
(Russian) President (Vladimir) Putin s office in October
2010 to ask if you d support CONCACAF in Russia s
World Cup bid? Jack, did you call Rowley? Was it
From Russia With Love ?"
"Oh yuh get silent now...," Moonilal noted as the
hushed audience took it in.
"(But) Warner s in his political grave, he ent fighting
election, he fighting extradition. His date isn t Sep-
tember 7, (general election), it s July 27 ( US extradition
request deadline)...and they ll make a movie of this,
the only keepback is they can t find anybody resembling
Jack to play him!"
Moonilal was, however, charitable to opponents
who d superimposed a picture of his head on a gorilla s
body in a campaign picture.
"A handsome fella like me...but it have some people,
you wouldn t have to superimpose any more picture
on the gorilla."
Deonarine, one of the earliest to leave the ILP,
admitted she once helped "the man who pulled off
the greatest con job against the UNC. I believed him
but he lied.
He said the PNM was the greatest blight and he d
never support them. Now I see alliances with the party
he once cursed---how dare you lie to the people!" she
furiously demanded of Warner.
Between the dual Warner "whupping," Prime Min-
ister Kamla Persad-Bissessar had the floor clear to
expound on the PP s future policies including diver-
sification initiatives via T&T s Green (environmental),
Blue (seaside), and Silver (senior citizen input) sectors
to boost the economy.
"The choice is clear: Rowley s poison or Kamla s
plans," she declared. But she also chose words for her
"gruesome twosome" opponents:
"One asking me who I went to China with---well,
Dr Gregory Bissessar accompanied me to China! (As
for) who I went to France with---I d like to tell them
all to go to France!
"And don t let anybody frighten you with obeah
talk. Gypsy (Winston Peters) told me, "Prime Minister
you re a Bapdu---a Baptist and a Hindu! And that
other fella who pretends to be a youthman, talking
about alligators in a lagoon. Well I planted rice in a
lagoon. Dr Rowley never condemned the Calcutta ship
remarks in the THA campaign; someone must ask
him if he agrees with this alligator talk now..."
