This year, Cropover was rumoured to go down as one of the most
highly-anticipated Carnivals, and it certainly did not disappoint! Over the
years, there has been an encouraging boost in interest on the regional
tourism front, where nations in our Antillean island chain have been inun-
dated by visitors who are in search of the unique cultural experiences that
this part of the world has to offer. For the consumers, we have made a de-
finitive shift from the myopic "Sun, Sea & Sand" experience of advertising
For a self-professed Carnival Baby, there is a sense of luxury and opulence
with the prospect of taking a mini-getaway to a neighbouring coastline for
their respective Carnival Period. Undoubtedly, Barbados definitely fits the bill of
all things fabulous, and the Barbados Tourist Authority has successfully mar-
ried "the coastline view" with the "Carnival anew."
Even as one marvels at its picturesque beaches, hospitable residents and deli-
cious cuisine (Oistins, you will always be the real MVP!), there is a renewed pas-
sion for the Kadooment experience. It's no wonder that Cropover has become an
indigenous experience of choice for new and seasoned visitors to the island!
The average cultural observer, however, has expanded beyond the touristic
perspective, many of whom are simply seeking a bit of R&R during the July/Au-
gust vacation stretch. This year, Cropover has also ushered a new cultural scope
-- regional tourism entrepreneurship (hastag: #copyright - ha!). Those who are
entrenched in the RTE lifestyle are young, influential business minds and
tastemakers, who have left a trailblazing impression on the entertainment
scene, and have made the bold move to take their well-received, qualitative
brand to another space that is linked in the Caribbean diaspora community.
Certainly, these entertainment personalities have left an indelible mark on
the way we enjoy events. Celebrity visitors for the Cropover 2015 Experience
included Will Smith, Claudia Jordan, Robert Christopher Riley - all leading in the
touristic charge to the land of the Flying Fish.
Of course, there is also the Official Bajan Brand Ambassador of the Universe,
Robyn "Rihanna" Fenty, who attended various events and marketed Barbados
invaluably to the global audience. Consequently, entertainment organizations
and event promoters are opening a new gateway of possibilities for free enter-
prise within our cultural landscape.
They keyword here, of course, is QUALITY. If you're thinking of bringing any
party experience to consumers, do ensure that you will spare no resources to
ensure that your patrons are safe, secure and generally happy in receiving
value for their hard earned coins.
AND NOW, HERE'S THE 411 ON THE 246 -
