CENTRAL TENDERS BOARD
Tender for the Provision of Security Services for the Chaguanas Borough
Corporation, Ministry of Local Government for a period of One (1) Year
Tenders are invited for the Provision of Security Services at the following facilities oper-
ated by the Chaguanas Borough Corporation, Ministry of Local Government for a period of One
• New Administrative Building
• Main Gate (Stores Building)
• Chaguanas Market
• Chaguanas Abattoir
• Vendors Mall
• Saith Park
Tender documents can be obtained during normal working hours at the Central Tenders
Board's Office, 116 Frederick Street, Port of Spain. Any further technical information can be
obtained during normal working hours from Inspector Octive Lewis, Municipal Inspector,
Chaguanas Borough Corporation, New Administrative Building, 154-164 Chaguanas Main
Road, Chaguanas, Telephone Nos: 665-3977/672-4340.
Tenderers are required to pay a tender deposit of Five Hundred Dollars ($500.00)
payable by cash or certified cheque to the Director of Contracts, Central Tenders Board, 116
Frederick Street, Port of Spain. This deposit will be received from Monday to Friday between
the hours of 9.00 a.m. to 12.00 noon and 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. The original receipt must be
attached to the tender.
A pre-tender meeting followed by site visits will be held for prospective tenderers at 9:30
a.m. on Tuesday 1st September, 2015 in the Conference Room of the Chaguanas Borough
Corporation, New Administrative Building, 154-164 Chaguanas Main Road, Chaguanas.
Tenders must be accompanied by the following:
(i) Valid Income Tax and Valued Added Tax Clearance Certificates issued by the
Board of Inland Revenue and dated not more than six (6) months prior to the closing
date of the tender.
(ii) A Valid Certificate of Compliance issued in accordance with the National Insurance Act.
The original and five (5) copies of the Tender should be placed in sealed envelopes,
addressed to the Chairman, Central Tenders Board, 116 Frederick Street, Port of Spain
and clearly marked on the outside: -
"Tender for the Provision of Security Services for the Chaguanas Borough
Corporation, Ministry of Local Government for a period of One (1) Year"
Envelopes must be deposited in the BROWN Tenders Box, located in the lobby of the
Board's Office, 116 Frederick Street, Port of Spain, not later than 1:00 p.m. on THURSDAY
10th September, 2015.
Tenderers should note that the dimensions of the slot of the Tenders Box are 37.5 cm x
5.5 cm and as such, tenders should be packaged accordingly.
Tenders will be opened shortly thereafter. The tenderer or an authorized representative
may be present at the opening.
The Board does not bind itself to accept the lowest or any other tender.
The Central Tenders Board reserves the right to cancel the present notice in its entirety
or even partially, without defraying any cost incurred by any firm in submitting their tender.

Nations Information Centre for the
Caribbean, NGOs, CBOs, educational
institutions, faith-based organisations
and members of the community came
together and celebrated International
Youth Day on August 16 in Rio Claro.
The event took the form of a solidarity
walk followed by an official programme
engaging the talent and culture of
A release said the event began with
the release of pigeons and balloons fol-
lowed by the walk where members of
the public and groups participated. The
walk started at the Rio Claro car park
with a number of uniformed bands
including St Patrick s Brigade, Port-of-
Spain Pathfinders, Mayaro Scouts, Uni-
versity of the Southern Caribbean
marching band, Petrotrin Cadet Corps
and Moruga Pathfinders. The Kaisokah
Moko Jumbies led by Junior Bisnath and
the La Romaine Red Indians also par-
ticipated in the parade.
International Youth Day is celebrated
on August 12 each year to recognise
efforts of the world s youth in enhancing
global society. This year s theme is Youth
Civic Engagement. Youth Civic Engage-
ment, a main goal of the United Nations
System-Wide Action Plan on Youth,
seeks to promote the effective inclusive
civic engagement of young people at all
levels. There has been recent increasing
attention and policy and programming
focus on youth civic engagement by
governments, UN entities, regional and
multilateral organisations, CSOs, youth
The programme chaired by Andy Paul,
consisted of guest speakers including
UN Population Fund (UNFPA) repre-
sentative Aurora Noguera-Ramkissoon,
PTSC marketing manager Carl Ramdeo,
Pastor Clyde Dottin, Vernon Persad and
Youth Elect TT winner Nicholas Morris.

Hosein and Rinnel Harinirine and

Last month, four illustrators and
four writers, ages of six to 15, joined
the Ananse Young Writers and Illus-
trators workshop hosted by Beyond
the Box for five weeks. At the work-
shop, they worked on writing or illus-
trating their own books.
The participants were awarded with
certificates of participation and their
creative accomplishments were show-
cased during their Presentation Day at
Nalis, Port-of-Spain, on August 7.
In a release, Beyond the Box extended
sincere thanks to the participants for
working so diligently. The organisers
