THA Assemblyman Hilton Sandy was found
guilty of contempt of court on Friday when he
appeared before Judge James Aboud at the Port-
of-Spain High Court. Sandy was ordered to vacate
his matrimonial home on August 17, but he refused
to move out of the house.
Sandy, 69, was sentenced to prison for seven days.
However, the T&T Guardian understands that the
sentence was suspended for 48 hours in the hope
that he would comply with the order.
In an application for contempt of court filed by
attorney Martin George on behalf of Sandy s wife,
Candice Chang-Sandy, 29, an order was sought that
Sandy be committed to prison for his failure to comply
with a court order which instructed him to vacate
his matrimonial home located at Riseland, Carnbee;
not to come within 500 feet of the said premises;
and not to threaten his wife and his two young chil-
dren, ages five and one.
It is alleged that Sandy failed to obey the order
and his wife s motion to committal to prison for con-
tempt was heard on Friday.
Attorney Martin George has also written ag Com-
missioner of Police Stephen Williams notifying him
of the terms of the order, so that the Old Grange
police officers would be on standby pending the expi-
ration of the 48-hour period to arrest Sandy.
Sandy has been a representative in the Tobago
House of Assembly for approximately 15 years. In
2013, he was thrown into the spotlight for his "Cal-
cutta Ship" statement which was interpreted as racist.
Mere months later, he suffered a stroke which left
him with limited use of his right hand.

Public relations officer of the People s National
Movement (PNM) Faris Al-Rawi has vowed to take
legal action against talk show host Ian Alleyne for
airing a video of a woman who claimed she was
inappropriately touched by Dr Keith Rowley.
Al-Rawi said Alleyne would be one of many to be
sued after September 7.
Al-Rawi raised the issue yesterday at a press con-
ference at Balisier House, Port-of-Spain.
In a September 3 video that went viral on Alleyne s
Facebook page, a 42-year-old woman, in the presence
of her mother, claimed she was allegedly taken for
a drive by Rowley and was inappropriately touched.
The woman claimed the incident had occurred 25

North/St Ann s East candidate Stuart Young, said
the video was an extension of the UNC s No Rowley
"It was nothing more than trumped-up show-
manship. We, as Dr Rowley s attorneys, vehemently
deny the supposedly 25-year allegation in this matter.
It s a fabrication," Al-Rawi insisted.
He said nothing Alleyne said could be taken seri-
"We have received instructions, and we are actively
pursuing and collating a massive amount of litigation
which will unfold after the general election. We will
take extreme pride in prosecuting Dr Rowley s posi-
tion," Al-Rawi said.
Young observed that the video was not aired on
the Crime Watch show, but on Alleyne s Facebook
Al-Rawi said the PNM was confident of victory
