MILAN---Sassuolo, Palermo and
Torino all dropped their first
points of the season to leave Inter
Milan as the only Serie A team
still with a perfect record ahead
of last night s eagerly anticipated
derby match against former player
Mario Balotelli and AC Milan.
All four of the afternoon matches
ended with the same 2-2 scoreline.
Sassuolo drew at home to Atalanta,
in a match that also saw two saved
penalties and two red cards, while
Torino drew at Hellas Verona.
Newly promoted Carpi picked
up its first ever Serie A point at
Palermo, while Napoli coach Mau-
rizio Sarri s return to Empoli also
ended in a stalemate.
Sampdoria s home match against
Bologna was postponed due to bad
weather and will be played today.
Sassuolo was looking to maintain
its perfect start to the season and
it seemed set to do just that when
it was awarded a penalty in the
sixth minute after Nicolo Cherubin
brought down Simone Missiroli
but Atalanta goalkeeper Marco
Sportiello saved Nicola Sansone s
The teams produced a thrilling
first half with Mauricio Pinilla scor-
ing two goals for Atalanta, includ-
ing a skillful overhead kick. Sas-
suolo twice leveled with long-range
strikes from Francesco Magnanelli
and Antonio Floro Flores to send
the teams in level at the break.
Pinilla went from hero to villain
at the start of the second half when
he was shown a second yellow card
for a poor challenge from behind
on Federico Peluso.
However, Atalanta held on and
could have won the match five
minutes from time when Sime
Vrsaljko tripped Maxi Moralez as
he burst into the box. The Sassuolo
defender was dismissed for his sec-
ond yellow card in the space of a
few minutes but Andrea Consigli
saved Moralez s spot-kick to spare
his teammate s blushes.
Palermo had yet to concede a
goal this season but gave two to
Carpi after taking a sixth-minute
lead when Oscar Hiljemark tapped
in Robin Quaison s deflected cross.
Palermo defender Roberto Vitiel-
lo turned Jerry Mbakogu s cross-
shot into his own net for the
equaliser before Marco Borriello
scored his first goal in two years
20 seconds into his debut.
As Carpi was preparing to cel-
ebrate a first Serie A win, Uros
Djurdjevic headed in Achraf
Lazaar s cross to draw Palermo level
two minutes from time.
