Galvanize, one of three Sir Michael
Stoute declarations for the Maiden Stakes
over a mile of Chelmsford polytrack
tonight, is very special and extremely
significant; it s the guv nor s 70th birth-
That's right Stoutey' has clocked up
three score years and ten!'
You can bet a birthday winner has been
laid out; so often trainers find one' to cel-
ebrate the annual date and, even more sig-
nificantly, Galvanise is clear best-in' on
my time-handicap, and forecast favourite,
despite presence of 78-rated Rockley Point.
Three weeks ago Galvanise, un-fancied,
stayed on strongly under Ryan Moore, to
finish only a neck behind Tafteesh at Sal-
isbury, so often a graveyard' for two-year-
old favourites due to the quality opposition
often encountered; that's solid form.
Stoute has been one of the real greats'
and though somewhat de-energised in
recent years, it's difficult to remain moti-
vated and driven when rich and content,
he's able to up the ante' whenever he likes;
recent results illustrate his prowess.
It's a long time since the heady days of
ill-fated Shergar, Zilzal, etc, and twice-
raced Galvanise surely wont aspite to such
greatness but I'll be surprised and disap-
pointed, not to mention financially
strapped, if this Medaglia D'Oro colt doesn't
oblige under Ted Durcan and kick-off birth-
day celebrations for the old boy!'
Half an hour later Jassur will carry my
ard earned in the thirteen-runner nursery
handicap over a mile, blinkered again!
This equipment certainly provoked a
response earlier this month; Jassur improv-
ing considerably on three previous moderate
efforts to finish close up fifth behind Opera
Baron, over a similar distance, on Tape-
ta.That was a first handicap run for this
Canford Cliffs colt and I'm ready to back
Marco Botti's charge, mount of Oisin Mur-
phy, a future champ' in my book.
Jameerah looks a safe TH anchor' for
the daily patent in the Maiden Fillies' Stakes
over six furlongs; don't oppose.
Horn leads Breeders' Cup raid
John Gosden's brilliant Investec Derby and Prix
de l'Arc de Triomphe winner could face QIPCO
Champion Stakes second Found in the Turf
although Postponed, the third European-trained
entry, has been ruled out of the meeting because
of a dirty scope.
There are no such problems with Golden Horn
with Gosden revealing that the three-year-old
has worked well.
"Golden Horn worked this morning and we
were happy with how he worked. He worked on
the long gallop and Frankie Dettori was pleased
with him," he said.
"The plan is for him to head out on Saturday,
all being well. He has held his condition
extremely well. He put the weight back on to
what he was before the Arc five days after the
"He has some constitution and that is the one
thing that gives us hope racing this late in the
year with him."
Found's trainer Aidan O'Brien has six other
possible runners over the two days including
Gleneagles in the $5million Classic.

His fellow Irish handler David Wachman will
saddle Legatissimo in the Filly & Mare Turf, a
race in which she is expected to start favourite.
France is strongly represented in the Breeders'
Cup Mile, with current champion Karakontie back
to defend his crown for soon-to-retire trainer
Jonathan Pease and the Niarchos family. Also in
the field are the Andre Fabre-trained multiple
Group One winners, Esoterique and Make
Our columnist Richard Fahey is set to have his

Cymric. Both colts are owned by Godolphin.
Mootaharer has star potential
Mootaharer took the first steps to matching
the exploits of his half-brother Muhaarar when
posting a decisive victory in the second division
of the Directa Maiden Stakes at Newmarket.
Although still having a long way to go to equal
the achievements of his four-time Group One-
winning older sibling, defeat was never in
question for the 4/7 favourite on his second
Mastering long-time leader Claymore late on in
the seven-furlong event, the Charlie Hills-trained
runner pulled smartly clear of his rivals to score
by four and a half lengths.
Mootaharer was introduced at 25/1 for next
year's Qipco 2000 Guineas with Paddy Power.
Angus Gold, racing manager to owner Hamdan
Al Maktoum, said: "He got the job done well. Paul
(Hanagan) was very pleased.
"He got him forward early so he didn't get lost
in the dip. The last 100 yards were the most
impressive as he was just getting started. I
would probably think that a mile is the shortest
he would want next year."
Classic quotes were also on offer after Prize
Money delivered the goods at the first time of
asking in the Breeders Supporting Racing EBF
Despite wandering across the track in the mile
event, the Saeed bin Suroor-trained 11/8
favourite showed a useful turn of foot to claim a
four-and-a-half-length victory and earn an
opening quote of 25/1 for next year's Investec
Derby with Paddy Power.
James Ferguson, representing Godolphin, said:
"It was a very nice first introduction and it is nice
when something works well at home and works
out perfectly on track.
"Looking at that run he probably stays, and we
will see how he does over the winter. I am not
saying he will go for this race, but something like
the Feilden will suit him."
John Gosden hinted a return to the track for a
shot at the Free Handicap could be an early-
season target for Hayadh following his victory in
the AR Legal Collections Stakes.
The Douglas Bennett-trained filly Cloud
Nine will attempt to make it two from two
against her sex when she goes to post on
Saturday in the Grade One - Oak Stakes
over 1,800 metres on the main track and
Santa Rosa Park, Arima.
Nine horses have taken entry for the fea-
ture event and Derby winning rider Nobel
Abrego will be aboard favourite Cloud Nine.
Also in the line up will be the Glenn
Mendez-trained Star Sapphire which was
caught by Cloud Nine when last they met.
Mendez has another in the event with Bril-
liance which will be ridden by Wilmer Galviz
for owner Russell Ramsammy.
Champion trainer John O'Brien has a
two-pronged attack in the event with Tan
Tan and Serengeti but neither has shown
the type of form to worry Cloud Nine.
When entries were taken yesterday for
the Arima Race Club's (ARC) Day 37 - eight
race card, a total of 100 horses took entry.
Post time for the first event is 12.45 pm.
Here are the declared runners, riders and
weights for the ARC Day 37 eight race card.
