Nine charities have benefitted from $112,000 in
donations made available through the generosity of
mas bands Tribe/Bliss.
At a reception held at La Renaissance at Shorelands
in Glencoe, last Thursday, Dean Ackin, executive chair-
man of the Ultimate Group, the parent company of
Tribe/Bliss, made funds raised from its annual post-
Carnival Las Lap event available to outfits that dedicated
themselves to the enrichment of societal upliftment.
Organisations in receipt of these grants were: the
Foundation for the Enhancement and the Enrichment
of Life (Feel); Children s Ark; CKFTO-Caribbean Kids
& Families Therapy Organisation; Family Planning
Association; Community Intervention for Transfor-
mation and Empowerment; Woodbrook Playboyz; the
T&T Schools Rugby Union; St Margaret Boys Anglican
School Pan Room refurbishment Project (in conjunction
with Hilton); and, the Right Start Early Intervention
Programme for Children With Autism.
Ackin said no organisation would be complete with-
out a devotion to the corporate social responsibility
concept, which was the reason Tribe/Bliss hosted its
Las Lap over the past few years, where the net proceeds
are pledged to organisations that are hard at work
taking care of people in need.
"I want to congratulate some of these organisations
for their great work and I want to encourage other
businesses in the Carnival industry and in general to
give back as you move forward in your business," said
