IN 2013, CHAYAH LIFE ACADEMY opened its doors to the
children of Enterprise, Chaguanas, and in 2014 to the chil-
dren of Arima. For three years and counting, Chayah Life
Academy Founder and President, Rae Marie D'andrade,
has been working steadfastly with the children from these
areas implanting the Light of Life, Chayah Life, into their
minds and hearts. The results, especially according to par-
ents, have been miraculous.
WOW: WHAT IS CHAYAH LIFE?
Chayah (pronounced kaw yaw) is the Hebrew word for 'to
restore' or 'to live again' or 'to bring back to life'. The name
is a testament to the quality of education we offer. To truly
effect the change that our nation and citizens could benefit
from at every level, a system of education must be built
that works to restore the mind and the thinking of the stu-
dent, even to the point of healing hearts that have been ad-
versely affected by less than desirable living environments.
Many of the children we see coming into Chayah Life
Academy come from very humble homes, many experi-
ence high levels of brokenness and dysfunction daily. So-
cial media has recently been used in greater measure to
expose the daily reality that many of our children live
through. Chayah Life's restorative education system
brings hope back to their lives. When hope is restored we
see children living again in a meaningful and
productive way. It's easier to build strong
children than to repair broken adults.
WOW: WHY ANOTHER SCHOOL?
Chayah Life Academy is not just "an-
other school"; it's an institution of
change and restoration. When the for-
mer PM visited Enterprise in early 2015
during an upsurge of gang war-
fare, she launched a project
called Operation Restore II,
and I have to agree with that
approach, because the only
hope for Enterprise and sim-
ilar communities is to build a
system of restorative edu-
cation. I'm not aware of any
other private school in the
Enterprise area that caters
specifically to the poor and
WOW: WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF
CHAYAH LIFE ACADEMY'S EXISTENCE?
On our logo there is the value 3 3 3. In Biblical Hebrew nu-
merology it means "Out of the darkness will come the
Light". Regardless of how hopeless a situation seems,
there is no darkness that can overcome Light. We exist to
go into the darkened lives of children and bring them into
a place of healing, order, sight and an understanding of
their purpose in life and for living.
WOW: WHAT IS YOUR VISION?
Not simply to provide a first class education to those who
can afford it, but especially to those who are living in great
poverty. Many children living in such conditions are most
at risk to enter a life of delinquency and crime. Therefore,
even in our small beginnings, we have committed to spon-
sor several of these children whose parents cannot afford
tuition. We desire to increase this number; however, it's
quite a sacrifice for the academy as we must also meet
our expenses. We encourage and welcome members
of the public to prayerfully consider sponsoring a
child, either in part or in full.
WOW: WHAT FUNDRAISING
VENTURES ARE BEING PLANNED?
The creative arm of Chayah Life --- Living Epistles Per-
forming Arts Company, will be ministering in music, dance
and drama at Trincity Mall on December 11th and 21st
from 6:00 pm -- 8:00 pm on the theme "Follow the Star".
Several other fundraising events have also been planned
for December 9th, 13th and 20th in Arima and Enterprise.
We aim to raise enough money to complete our school's
physical structure and secure the premises, build a proper
library and play area for the students, and assist children
from single parent homes who are unable to pay the
school fees, among many other things.
