Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley
yesterday officially moved into the
Prime Minister s Residence and Diplo-

This move comes just about three
months after the People s National
Movement (PNM) won the September
7 general election.
Rowley told party supporters on Fri-
day night that he was moving into the
official residence yesterday.
His statement was received with loud
applause and cheers by those who
attended the PNM by-election meeting
at the Rosewood carpark, Flamingo
Boulevard South, Arima.
While delivering the feature address,
Rowley said, "Tomorrow, (yesterday) I

He didn t finish his sentence because
he was cautioned by some supporters
to "make sure and bless it."
The PM s response was "long time."
He said he prayed every day and that
he did not pray alone, his friends also
Rowley joked again, "This evening I
went to look for a dog because I know
if anybody comes back there, I ll make
that dog bite them."
During the election campaign of
2010, former prime minister Kamla
Persad-Bissessar said she would not
occupy the controversial residence that
was built under the tenure of former

that every time the price of oil goes

"That is the loss they carry---US$4
billion a day.
"So picture a scene where it came
down from US$120 to US$40 and
they re saying to us that as long as you
will encourage us, we will still find the
money to invest in Trinidad and Tobago
because it is a place where we want to
be," Rowley said.
He also shared with them that there
was only a seven-year supply of gas
left, if new gas was not found.
"After that, it s done."
He called on the supporters to picture
where they were seven years ago and
where they are today, saying that if the
condition existed then, today would
have been the time when the country
had no gas.
He accused the last government of
lying to the population and giving

now to ensure that we don t end up in
a situation where we don t have gas to
run in our industries.

Rowley raised questions over the
luxurious Victoria Keyes
apartments saying one particular
unit already had an owner even
before it was finished. He said
nowhere in the private sector could
people find better apartments than
the ones in Victoria Keyes, Diego
He said the valuation on the three
units on the eight-storey block units
were as follows:
• lowest floor - $1.6 million;
• middle floor - $3 million;
• top floor - $4.5 million.
He said one particular unit he saw
on the ground floor, a one-bedroom
that was nicely finished, carried a
$4 million valuation.
"Who they built that for? Clearly
that had an owner before they
finished it," Rowley said.
But he issued a message to the
last government, "Whoever money
allyuh take, give it back, and who eh
get it back, too bad for you!"
