NOTICE is hereby given that
works are to be conducted at
FIRST CITIZENS BANK
by COOL CARIBBEAN LTD
on Henry Street Port of Spain on
Friday 8th January 2016 during
the hours of 7pm to 3am and will
cause disruption and the
temporary restriction of traffic on
Henry Street from corner Park
Street and proceeding northwards.
We apologize for any inconvenience
caused. Police presence will
administer the interruption to
regular traffic flow at this time.
There will be several changes in the format of
the 2016 National Steelband Panorama Compe-
tition, themed Excitement and Excellence.
Speaking at the launch of the event in the VIP
Lounge of the Grand Stand, Queen s Park Savannah,
Port-of-Spain, on Tuesday, president of Pan Trin-
bago, Keith Diaz, said the most significant of the
changes will be in the semifinal round of the contest
(the Savannah Party) scheduled for January 24.
"There have been some changes in the format,
most significant being the semifinals where all
conventional bands---small, medium, and large---
will face the adjudicators, starting at 9 am, with
the small bands taking the stage first," he said.
Previously, the semifinals were staged over the
weekend, with the single pan and small bands
being judged on the Saturday, and the medium
and large bands appearing before the adjudicators
on the Sunday. This year the single pan bands
semifinal will take place on January 22 in front of
Pan Trinbago s headquarters on Park Street, Port-
of-Spain, starting at 7 pm.
Another change will be in effect at the final of
the competition on Carnival Saturday night. Patrons
of the North Stand will be encouraged to "leave
your coolers at home," said the organisation s vice
president Bryon Serrette, as that venue will be an
"all-inclusive experience" with a ticket price of
$450. Grand Stand patrons who choose to occupy
the north and east wings will benefit from a dis-
counted ticket price ($400), while others can pur-
chase general ($500) or special reserve ($800) tick-
ets.In addition, The Greens, the alternative semifinal
venue, is being designed in a spider-web format
to honour pan pioneer Anthony Williams who
designed the spider-web pan (so named because
of the appearance of its playing surface). According
to Daniel Lambert, consultant to Pan Trinbago,
that area will also benefit from improved facilities,
inclusive of a Wi-Fi access zone, traffic-lighting
system, bacchanal zone, and additional access
points and vehicle parking.
Diaz said Pan Trinbago has, so far, secured cor-
porate sponsorship with an aggregate value of
approximately $2.5 million. Its partners include
JetBlue Airways, Angostura Limited, Penta Paints,
Blink bmobile, Caribbean New Media Group
(CNMG) and FCL Financial Limited.
"The partnerships facilitate Pan Trinbago s mis-
sion to transmit excitement and excellence at this
great event as the tuners, arrangers, and pannists
strive to achieve excellence, and combine to give
their audience satisfaction by way of excitement,"
Over the years, he added, the National Steelband
Panorama Competition has given opportunity to
quite a few bands to enter the world of commerce,
as some have used their winnings to establish busi-
nesses in transportation and food and beverages.
"We recognise that several of our member bands
have been floundering in the face of shrinking win-
dows of opportunity, and because of this it is
planned to enter into a programme to enable mem-
ber bands to develop on an all-round basis," he
Panorama 2016 kicks off on Friday (Jan 8) with
the preliminary round of competition among single
pan bands in the northern region at The Paddock
in the Queen s Park Savannah, starting at 6 pm.

"The partnerships facilitate Pan
Trinbago's mission to transmit

great event as the tuners,
arrangers, and pannists strive to
achieve excellence, and combine to
give their audience satisfaction by
