Shilpa Shetty is an Indian film actress, producer and former model. She ap-
pears predominantly in Bollywood films however, she has also worked in a
few Telugu, Tamil and Kannada language films. Through her successful Bol-
lywood career and after winning the international reality television series
Celebrity Big Brother 5. Shetty has become one of the most popular and
high-profile celebrities in India. She is the recipient of numerous awards and
nominations, including four Filmfare nominations. Shetty began her career
as a model in 1991 with a Limca television commercial and followed it with
several other commercials and advertisements. She then began receiving
offers for film roles and made her debut in the 1993 thriller Baazigar, a box-
office hit that earned her Filmfare nominations for Best Supporting Actress
and Lux New Face of the Year awards. She subsequently earned wide-
spread recognition by playing lead female roles in the 1994 box office hits
Aag and Main Khiladi Tu Anari. The 2000 romantic drama Dhadkan
marked a significant turning point in her career, earning her wide critical ac-
claim and best actress nominations at several award ceremonies. Her per-
formances in the dramas Rishtey (2002) and Phir Milenge (2004) were
appreciated, with her portrayal of an AIDS patient in the latter earning her
several accolades, including a Filmfare Award for Best Actress nomination.

It's not just exercise alone!
Decrease your caloric intake
by 500 calories per day and
lose 1lb. per week. Choose
nutrient-rich, low calorie foods
such as fruit and vegetables. Eat
these instead of foods that contain
added sugar and saturated fats to help de-
crease your caloric intake. Add lean quality
protein to the mix and you're good to go!
High intensity interval training and car-
dio for 30 minutes at least two to three
times per week will keep your body guess-
ing to burn fat. Do these exercises twice a
week to tone up those legs and get them
ready for the show!
• WIDE LEG SQUATS -- stand with legs
wide apart and feet straight, push your
butt back and bend your knees to 90 de-
grees keeping your back straight and
knees behind your toes. Do 12-15 reps, 3-5
• DUMBBELL LUNGE - Stand with legs
hip width apart and hold 5-8 lb. dumbbells
in your hands. Lunge forward one leg at a
time keeping your knee above your ankle
and the weight in your heels instead of on
your toes. Do 30 seconds on each side, 3
sets. To take it up a notch, try this move by
travelling forward on each lunge.
• PLIE SQUAT -- Stand with legs slightly
wider than hip width apart and toes
pointed out. Bring your arms out straight
in front of you and lower down as far as
you can without your knees passing your
toes. Tuck your tail bone under and
squeeze your glutes! 20 reps, 3-5 sets.
• SEATED LEG RAISE -- Sit on floor with
back against the wall and legs straight out
in front of you. Keep foot flexed and raise
one leg at a time focusing on tightening
the quad muscle in the front of the leg. Do
12-15 reps on each side, 3 sets.
