Eight-year-old Darius Luke who
was knocked down by a panel van on
his way home from school on Thurs-
day, remains warded in a stable con-
dition at the San Fernando General
Kirwin Weston Very sad news.
Hope he's okay.
James Ramsey Very sad news but
they cannot install humps on that
busy road way, it will only cause more
traffic on an evening. That is not a
minor road it's a major roadway, so
humps cannot be installed there.
They could put a walk over.
Candy Vice They need a walkover,
simple. Why parents allow kids to
travel/walk home alone after school?
They have to do better than that.
Black Indi Pray for the child to
have a speedy recovery... Sad.
Buffy D Unruly Queen Smh, poor
boy, my prayers go out to d family.
Dominique Inniss Just a com-
ment in general and NOT about
this child or his family: there are
walkovers along many points on the
Churchill Roosevelt Hi-wy and by
West Mall, yet pedestrians, in droves,
prefer to take their lives in their own
hands and run or, in some crazy cas-
es, saunter across the Hi-wy mere
metres from the walkover that was
constructed to protect and safeguard
said pedestrians against traffic.

The Calypso Monarch competition
was thrown into a tailspin of contro-

Organisation (TUCO) to secure spots

needs to be scrapped. Its becoming a
big waste of time and money.
Melina Hutchinson I agree with
Nedd-Reid. TUCO knew that she was
a Vincentian all along and they al-
lowed her to compete over the years.
It's not to say that she hid her nation-
ality and they've now found out. She
was Calypso Queen in 2012 so I think
that she has a reasonable expectation
that having qualified for the finals,
she should be allowed to perform and
shouldn't have been disqualified.
Lyris Patterson Agreed. Why was
her nationality was not questioned in
the past. There is always uncalled for
drama in the entertainment indus-
try in T&T. TUCO need to do their
homework to avoid issues like this.

Terrorism high on agenda
White House spokeswoman Sarah
Huckabee Sanders has confirmed to
the New York Times that US Presi-
dent Donald Trump spoke to Prime
Minister Dr Keith Rowley on Sunday
about "terrorism and other security
challenges, including foreign fight-

doesn't take appropriate action on
ISIS terrorists here and those return-

for us, maybe with a few bombs here
and there, who knows?

Why no participation
by Hindu schools?
Disappointed by the lack of par-
ticipation from Hindu schools in
this year's National Carnival Schools
Intellectual Chutney Soca Monarch
Competition, the Education Minister
said ministry officials will be dis-
patched to find out why.
Aarti Gosine It's Shiv Raatri,
an auspicious period on the Hindu
calendar. It always falls around the
Carnival period and Hindu schools
are observing this time. Phagwa is
also right around corner and schools
are practising for the various com-
petitions. Not everything is about

their religious beliefs. Feeling disap-
pointed with statement.
Raj Sum Is this PNM government
so out of touch with this popula-
tion? A lot of Hindu/Muslim groups
and organisations do not partake in
Carnival activities. Or they do in a
limited capacity. Why do you think
the beaches and parks and rivers are
full on Carnival day. Because a large
segment of our population doesn't
partake in Carnival.
Sharliza Sankar This is so true
Raj Sum, I am a Christian (Pentecos-
tal) and we do not take part in Carni-
val at all.
Vaughn Ramdeen Probably cause
anything associated with Carnival
is considered wrong in the eyes of
some religions. I'm a Christian and
absolutely have nothing to do with
Carnival. Carnival now isn't what it
was long ago. And Hindus are fasting
for Shiv Raatri at the moment.
Kenny Supersad This contest was
held in Port-of-Spain. How many
Hindu and Muslim schools are locat-
ed in Port-of-Spain? Maybe it's time
to change the venue.

portant to find out why. It was their
