Roberts leaps to
T&T's Khemani Roberts dom-
inated the field in the women's
high jump event to strike gold at the
Maryland Invitational at the Kehoe
Track & Field Complex in College
Park, Maryland, USA on Saturday.
The Coppin State University sopho-
more leaped 1.68 metres to place first
and returned to the podium twice
again to collect the bronze in the
women's long jump and was part of
the 4x400m relay team that placed
In the long jump event, Roberts
measured 5.04m to finish among the
top three and then her Coppin State
relay outfit clocked, a season leading
time of four minutes and 05.67 sec-
onds (4:05.67), to take bronze to open
her outdoor season.
This followed up Roberts outstand-
ing performance at the ECAC/IC4A
Indoor Track and Field Champi-
onships (March 3-5) at the Boston
University Track and Tennis Center
in Massechusetts, where she placed
second overall in the women's indoor
Roberts won the pentathlon high
jump at 1.74m notching a season-best
mark. In the long jump she was third
(5.33m) and in the shot put (11.50m)
also placed third. Roberts was eighth
in the 60m hurdles with a person-
al-best time of 9.28 and concluded
her pentathlon placing 11th in the
800m run with a time of 2:32.55.
Robert's time in the 800 meter pen-
tathlon was the fastest of any Eagle
this indoor season and her 60 meter
hurdles was the second fastest.
T&T had two other athletes com-
peting at the Maryland meet, includ-
ing Haysean Cowie-Clarke and Mark
London, both also of Coppin State.
Cowie-Clarke, a senior, crossed
fourth in the men's 200m event in
a time of 22.27 while London faced
the starter in the men's 1,500m and
the junior was ninth in heat one to
place 18th overall in 4:13.56.
On Friday at the Rhodes Invita-
tional in Memphis, Tennessee, Anika
Charles raced to gold in the women's
400m in 54.25. The Arkansas-Lit-
tle Rock senior later lined up in the
4x100m relay and her team clocked
46.55 to win the one-lap event.
That evening, local hurdler Jem-
inise Parris was at her best at the
Willie Williams Classic in Arizo-
na, Tucson, striking gold twice for
Central Arizona. The freshman was
dominant in the women's 100m hur-
dles final, winning easily in 13.91 and
took the top spot in the 400m hur-
dles, getting to the line in 1:02.30.
Parris wasn't done yet though and
copped a third gold, this time with
her 4x400m relay team in 3:42.79.
She was also a part of the 4x100m
relay team but it did not finish the

Warren grabbed gold in the women's
shot put event with a 16.17m throw.
The sophomore also competed in the
hammer throw and her best effort of
43.11m placed her 15th.
At the Emporia State University
Spring Invitational in Kansas, Shania
Alexander picked up two medals in a
full schedule of events for the Neosho
County Community College athlete.
The freshman bagged a bronze in the
women's 100m (11.93) and copped a
silver in the 4x100 relay (47.53). She
also ran in the women's 200m and
was eighth (24.80) and the 4x400m
relay, placing seventh (4:12.15).
