Value of shares
doubles this week
This week saw 1,144,912 shares traded on the
First Tier Market, an increase of 9.63 per cent on
last week’s volume of 1,044,306 shares. The val-
ue of shares traded more than doubled, up 102.51
per cent to $14,295,124.51 from $7,058,818.35
in the prior week.
The significant increase in the value of shares trad-
ed was mainly due to heavy trading in West Indian
Tobacco Company Limited (WCO) which saw 50,692
shares traded this week with a value of $6,437,884.00.
The volume leader was National Flour Mills Limited
(NFM) with 28.85 per cent of the market or 330,257
shares changing hands.
The Indices ended the week in mixed territory.
The Composite Index slipped 0.03 per cent or 0.40
points to end at 1,242.08, the All Trinidad and To-
bago Index increased 0.05 per cent or 0.89 points to
1,827.95 and the Cross Listed Index shed 0.27 per cent
or 0.24 points to close the week at 87.99. Advances
outnumbered declines by a ratio of ten to six.
The major advance was L.J. Williams ‘B’ Limited
(LJWB), up 7.50 per cent or $0.06 to end the week
at $0.86 and the major decline was NFM, down 1.52
per cent or $0.04 to $2.60.
There was no activity on the Second Tier Market
On the TTD Mutual Fund Market 65,054 CLICO
Investment Fund (CIF) units traded with a value of
$1,464,377.86. CIF’s price fell 0.09 per cent or $0.02
to close at $22.50.
First Citizens Bank Limited – 23.03.17
The Trinidad and Tobago Stock Exchange Limited (TTSE) received
notice from FIRST that on March 21, the Government of the Republic
of Trinidad and Tobago, the
ultimate shareholder of the Offeror of the APO–First Citizens Holdings
Limited, has requested and the board of directors of FIRST agreed
to extend the closing date for the final
lodging of applications for the APO from March 24, to April 7, 2017,
at 4.00 pm.
Sagicor Financial Corporation Limited (SFC) – 22.03.17
The TTSE received notice from SFC that Mr Richard Byles will retire
from the office of president and chief executive officer of Sagicor
Group Jamaica Limited (SGJ or the Company) effective April 30,
2017. He will continue to serve as a director of the company.
Additionally, Dr The Honourable R Danny Williams will retire from
the office of Chairman of SGJ effective June 1, 2017. At the SGJ
board of directors’ meeting held on March 16,
2017, the following appointments were confirmed:
• Mr Christopher Zacca as president & chief executive officer and
company director effective May 1, 2017, and
• Mr Richard Byles as chairman of the company effective June 1, 2017.
Angostura Holdings Limited (AHL) – 21.03.17
The TTSE has been advised by AHL that Ms Lyn Lopez has been
replaced by Ms Jennifer Frederick as secretary of the board of AHL
effective March 10, 2017.
FirstCaribbean International Bank Limited (FCI) – 17.03.17
The TTSE received notice from FCI that at their annual meeting of
the company held on March 10, 2017, shareholders were asked to
approve the Amended and Restated By-Law No.1 of the company.
The by-laws were approved and adopted.
