at the SGH
I am glad to see so many Tobago-
nians finally talking about the horrors
they have experienced at the Scar-
borough General Hospital. We have
heard similar stories for years spoken
in hushed tones but now seeing those
being aired on the media so thanks
so much for giving us this opportu-
After many months, since last year
November, I can only now speak of
my experience as my entire family
was traumatized by the experience.
My father was admitted to the hos-
pital because he was ill. We were not
sure what was wrong with him we
only knew that his sugar was high.
However, during one of the visits, we
noticed that he sounded different and
told the doctor and nurse that his
words were slow and his mouth began
to twist. He did not enter the hospi-
tal sounding like that.
No none took on us. Eventually, he
had a catheter was put into him. The
day before he died he was up walking
about so imagine our horror when we
were called to the hospital the next
day only to be told he had died. Imag-
ine our horror too when we found his
bed and the floor surrounding his bed
draped in blood and his jaw looked
Apparently, my father's catheter
hooked up to a part of the bed and
was almost pulled out of him and he
bled to death. It seemed like he cried
all night for help and no one came to
his aid. He was the only patient on
the ward that night and it was a doc-
tor who was passing who eventually
heard his faint cry and helped him
but it was too late.
Other family members wanted an
autopsy done but I could not bear the
thought of cutting him as he had
already suffered too much pain at the
hands of caregivers!!!! Every time I
tell the story I feel pain for the hor-
rible death he met at the hospital.
Something is drastically wrong at the
hospital!!!! I leave them in God's hands
!!! He alone will do justice. He will
do justice for all the wrongs there.
Somebody needs to ring a bell and
bring these people who are supposed
to help people do harm to them

We need Police Help !
I am at Tobago on my vacation, and this is now
my thirteen time that I visit Tobago. I have never
been afraid during my earlier stay at the Island but
this time I do not feel safe here!
I am staying by a friend and his family at Calder
Hall. My friend has a small piece of land there he
grows some vegetables. Since a week he has notice
that somebody has cut down his cane. Not to eat
them, just cutting them down for fun!
We have notice that a young man is walking
around with a cutlass, the boy don't maintain any
garden, so he is not allowed to walk around with
it at all. Yesterday we saw the young man cutting
the cane. The friend run out to talk to the boy, but
the boy started to act dangerous and walk against
my friend with the cutlass and also threw Stones
and glass bottles. We called the police, and report-
ed what had happened. A neighbor came and told
us that the young man had sitting outside a house
with his cutlass at three o'clock in the morning,
trying to get the neighbor's daughter to come out!
Today in the morning the young man come up
to the house and through Stones against us wear-
ing his cutlass! We called the police but nothing
happened! We are afraid because there are small
children living in the house and I as tourist knows
that tourists have been murdered by cutlass before!
Please help us! Tobago has to be safe to visit! Who
can help us to solve the problem and live in peace!

Children put in
I wish to draw to your attention a
situation I have seen many times in
Tobago- police vehicles picking up
children from school and taking them
to the mall. In other words, policemen
are using the vehicles as their per-
sonal transport. Yet when we call the
station we are told many times there
are no vehicles.
What is interesting is that the police
do not realise they are putting their
children in danger as they cannot
always protect them if there is a
shootout. And they are also putting
the public at large in danger as they
will protect their siblings by not going
to a crime scene because their children
are in the vehicle or they might go
too late to the scene after dropping
off their kids
Please, madam Archie and Mr Moore
stop this practice now.

The new THA administration is
doing a lot of work in many different
areas and I feel happy to see this.
I want to take the opportunity to
tell the Chief Secretary Mr Charles to
keep up the good fight and do what
you feel is right for Tobago.
I want to tell him that we are all
behind him and want to see Tobago
do better. He must know that people
will say all kinds of things when they
do not know what is happening so he
should speak the truth when dealing
with us. We might not like it but we
must know what is happening. You
alone will not know what is best for
Tobago so once you share the infor-
mation we will give you feedback via
many media. So you need to listen to
us.Do not try to fool us as has happened
in the past. You can do us good by
getting out the people who are mak-
ing the administration look bad.
Friends embrace as they look at
the view from the highest point in
Scarborough- Fort King George.
