'NIS FUNDS NOT PROPERLY MANAGED'
The National Insurance Board
(NIB) needs to focus on its invest-
ment portfolio, which has the poten-
tial to generate higher rates of return.
This is one way it can prevent the
pension fund from going broke in the
next 13 years.
Kumar Puthal: Pls,check or do an
audit on NIB now or it will be too late
Lou Sandy: Square pegs in round
holes all over... check the ppl in top
Kevin Rajendra Ragbir: No,
every month they get millions but
they going broke.
Shyankaran Lalla: Hubert Dols-
ingh has been saying this for years
but successive governments failed to
listen to Mr Dolsingh, NIS consult-
to go on ID parade
As police prepare to put several
vigilante Claxton Bay residents on
ID parade tomorrow for the beating
of a man whom they had mistaken
for a thief, an investigating officer is
warning citizens to be cautious when
Aaron Love: Great, charge them,
make an example of them. People
like to play bad not thinking about
the consequences. Everything has a
price to pay, nothing in life is free, no
matter what it is. What goes around
comes around-everything in a mat-
ter of time.
Kenrick Purcell: Hooligans.
Vera Lalman: Senseless people
protecting their community.
Adil Ali: Good. At the end of the
day, however, who gets charged with
the stealing of the truck from the
Visesh Lall: Amazing, they
failed at their job specifically where
finding this vehicle was concerned.
They failed on a greater scale to the
point ppl do not feel safe and have
no confidence in the police service,
which is what will give rise to more
of these vigilante groups. They can
arrest ppl for being a product of their
failure, but cannot find the criminals
HDC turns sod for $40m
Turning the sod for a $40 m Hous-
ing Development Corporation (HDC)
in Moruga yesterday, Housing Minis-
ter Randall Mitchell has promised to
shift HDC's focus back to providing
affordable rental units to citizens.
Sharon Williams: Well I've been
waiting for 21 yrs so I guess it means
I'll continue to wait.
Victor Phillip: Foolish is the only
word I can find, not educated. There
are over 5000 units in Cashew Gar-
den abandoned for the past 8-9 years,
and HDC starting new projects, giv-
ing their friend business. They telling
us to tighten our belts.
Azard R Mohammed: What is the
situation with all those unfinished
HDC projects? One in particular,
Cashew Gardens, as I pass there of-
ten! Just a waste of resources again.
Jake Simms: Affordable houses
for ppl to live free....guess his con-
stituents well taken cared off.
Jonathan Fournillier: I so totally
disagree with this. While there are
numerous existing HDC houses all
over that are unoccupied and not fin-
ished or worse, gutted by thieves, that
they should be finished and handed
over immediately. This is still going to
provide work for lots of people and in
the various communities too.
People get the banks
It is not uncommon to see people
on social media complaining about
banking in this country, whether it
be long lines, bank fees or some other
perceived shortcoming with respect
to customer service.
Brent Bhagaloo: All Trinidadians
have to do is boycott the banks, espe-
cially those Canadian banks that are
Robert Singh: Coming together
will never happen, because people
like to talk and are basically cowards
when it is time to act. They are mostly
selfish and lazy.
Al T-w: Credit unions the way
to go; they make profit for you not
Learie Roach: Exercise your op-
tions. Return to the original philoso-
phy of your credit union.
Indian Arrival Day
celebrates spirit of survival
It happens every year as we cele-
brate Indian Arrival Day. I get phone
calls and emails, and it comes up in
conversation with friends, colleagues
and family. And it always centres on
one question: Why celebrate Indian
