The goal-attack opened
with goal-shooter Antoi-
nette Jackson, who netted
two off five tries, and they
had their ahead at the start,
holding a 12-2 lead at the
end of the first period be-
fore Laventille advanced to
a comfortable 26-7 lead at
Jackson was later re-
placed by Veronica Baptiste
and the latter added 16 in 25
for her team that remained
dominant in the third ses-
sion, leading 49-12 before
sealing the 32-goal win.
Most of Police's goals
came off of Cheryse Agu-
illeria, who was good for
15 off 25.
In the other match in
the division, Defence Force
earned a hard fought 36-28
victory over Horizon.
Leading the army/coast
guard combination to suc-
cess was Karlene Sylvest-
er with 24 of 43. She was
aided in the circle by for-
mer national senior player
Anastascia Wilson, who
was flawless, hitting nine
attempts at goal. Kema-
ria James came in as the
goal-attack later on while
Wilson was shifted to
goal-keeper. The former
national Under-16 cap-
tain James added the other
three goals from five tries.
Marcelle and goal-shoot-
er Makani Tyson did well
to keep their team close
through much of the
match, trailing 13-11 in
the first quarter, 20-17 at
the halfway mark and 28-
24 in the third but faded in
the fourth period, to suffer
their third straight defeat
of the season.
Marcelle connected 20
in 33 while Tyson netted
eight in 10.
In other matches, De-
fence Force claimed a 30-22
win over San Juan Jabloteh
and Uppers topped Royal
Eagles 36-17 in the Second
Division Y group. In the Y
Grouping, Malvern beat
Mucurapo Ex-Pupils by 20
(53-33) goals and Harlem
came from behind to upset
In the lone Third Di-
vision match, Soul City
defeated Horizon B, 26-8.
Reeka Seerathan was on fire for Transcend lead-
ing her team to a comfortable 44-27 win over Las
Lomas in the Second Division Y of the Lystra Lewis
Port-of-Spain Netball League on last Wednesday
evening at the Jean Pierre Complex in Port-of-
Seerathan, the goal-shooter notched a leading 41
goals from 52 attempts in a one-sided affair while her
goal-attack Kariyma Coltes added the other three from
Their effective play enabled their team to grab a 12-6
lead at the end of the first period, going further ahead
at the halfway mark 22-12. In the third quarter, Las Lo-
mas was able to almost match its opponent, scoring 10
compared to Transcend's 11 but the latter was able to
maintain its lead.
The fourth and final quarter saw Trancend continued
its dominance and pulled away to complete the 17-goal
Shooting for Las Lomas were Karrie Scott, who netted
the bulk of her team's goals with 20 off 34, Breanna
Roman (6/14) and Kyla Jattan (1/3).
In the other match played in the group, Malvern sealed
a 45-23 win over Horizon.
Goal-shooter Aalyiah Mulrain and goal-attack Patrina
Ashby combined well in the circle to help Malvern tri-
umph. Mulrain hit 28 in 39 while the latter put in 17 of 27.
Sherry Thomas, the goal-shooter, was best for Ho-
rizon with 13 off 23.
There was also a double-header in the X group of the
division and it was Chips and Defence Force coming
away with wins. Chips downed Jabloteh, 33-26 while
the soldier/sailor combination also scored 33 in topping
Royal Eagles, who scored 28.
