Two weeks after 62-year-old gardener
Prakash Dabee was beaten and robbed at a
Moruga vegetable stall, police are now in-
vestigating his murder.
Investigators said no report of the assault on
Dabee was made until last Friday after his death
at the San Fernando General Hospital.
Last Friday Antonio Garcia reported to Moruga
police that on July 7, he went to visit his cousin
Dabee at his Penal Rock Road, Basse Terre home.
When he entered the house, he found Dabee lying
on his bed, grimacing in pain from blows to his body.
Dabee told him that three days earlier, he had a
few drinks and went to a vegetable mart along the
Penal Rock Road where a group of men attacked
him and stole $750 cash from him. Instead of seek-
ing help, Dabee, who lived alone, returned home.
Garcia said he took Dabee to the Princes Town Dis-
trict Health Facility and he was transferred to the
San Fernando General Hospital. Dabee died last
Thursday. An autopsy at the Forensic Science Cen-
tre revealed that he died from blunt force trauma
to the head.
No one has since been arrested for his murder.
