CONCERN OVER TRUMP'S
NEW IMMIGRATION PLAN
In his continued efforts to clamp
down on immigrants entering the
United States, President Donald
Trump yesterday embraced legis-
lation that seeks to cut legal immi-
gration by 50 per cent in the next ten
William Ganness: Why are you
quoting from that anti-Trumper
from Canada. Canada has a mul-
ti-tiered system on one side they let
almost anyone in as refugees. On the
other side they let skilled residents
in. The latter is what Trump most
likely wants and it makes sense.
And how hard would that be to im-
plement---almost all countries have
that system. Trump is not going to
implement the plan personally, the
DHS or some other federal body will.
Trudeau's plan for Canada is going to
back fire seriously.
Gregory Collingwood: The
intent is to cut immigration from
countries of colour.
Azard R Mohammed: Just a re-
minder that America was founded by
Dookie Sarika: Hmm I wonder if
non-immigrant visas will stop being
Nerissa Dqueen: All who migrat-
ed years ago "through the back door"
and never "fix they papers" must be
trembling in their boots!
Junior Jackman: Guys, the world
is your oyster. I never really get this
fascination we have with America.
Why we want to go to a place which
is now so unwelcoming? There are
well paid jobs all over this planet
and as you travel you will realise that
West Indians are taking up oppor-
tunities as far as Japan. Yes, that's
right, everybody speaking English
now, it is the common language of
John W Smith: Yesterday every-
body happy TTPS arrested Chinese
here illegally and demanded their
deportation, today the same people
unhappy and crying foul because
POTUS is about to shut the doors on
the lazy, uneducated,unskilled that
will affect them and their families

knocked down by a man driving a

T&T Police Service (TTPS) public

he presented statistics for divisional
performance between January and
June, during a press briefing at the
Police Administration Building in
Jiu Li Yen Richardson: Last few
weeks they improved.

credit where credit is due. Over the
last few months we have been read-
ing of captured criminals to recent

Carolyn Marcelle: Must confess
you guys have been really stepping it
up. Keep up the good work.
Christopher Ramirez: Like
someone in police do a course in
UWI, is only statistics and no real
plan of action.
John W Smith: Just so police
went from underperforming to over-
achieving by 30% with the stroke of
a pen. How about 30% pay for 30%
Police body cameras
start date stalled
The initiative was expected to be
launched yesterday with 60 police
officers randomly selected from 25
police stations across T&T being
given the cameras to use on a trial
Keron Pierre: The government
does not want to do anything about
police corruption; making joke of the
Nerissa Dqueen: The cameras
should be made mandatory! Talk
John W Smith: Police seems to
fear the cameras more than they fear
Harry Ramharack: The nation
can only benefit from this trial run.
Many citizens may want body cam-
eras to become part of the standard
outfit of selected officers after the
trial run. Technology can be used,
misused, abused or refused.
