Power Meal Preparation
Spicy Baked Beef/Chicken Meatballs
Exercises to help you
very week, we show you one
exercise, whether it be yoga
or aerobics, that can help you
with a problem area or assist
in alleviating pain. This week
Fitness Plus host and trainer Ariya
Nanan focuses on an exercise to help
you strengthen your leg and improves
digestion and balance -
Revolved Side Angle
The Revolved Side Angle improves
digestion and balance. Strengthens
and stretches legs, knees, ankles.
Here’s how to do it:
1Stand with hips forward and feet
wide, both heels aligned, exhale
bend right knee at right angle with
right thigh parallel to floor and knee
directly above ankle. (As shown in
top photo) You do not want the right
knee bent beyond the ankle. Back
foot turned at a slight angle with heel
grounded into the floor and knee
straight. (If balance is an issue and the
heel isn’t flat, support the heel against
a wall to give more balance)
2Bring your hands to prayer and
twist the torso to the right as you
place the left elbow on the outer edge
of the right knee to create resistance.
(As shown below) Don’t allow the right
shoulder to collapse, instead aim to
slightly lean back with firm shoulder
blades and be sure to lean away from
the inner thigh.
3For a more advanced option, place
the left palm on the floor or block
with the left elbow resisting right knee
and extend the right hand over the
right ear with palm downwards as you
gaze upwards. Hold pose for 15 to 20
seconds breathing steadily. Increase
your twist as you exhale. Inhale come
up, repeat on other side. (Use props
around your home—walls, steps, rail-
