10 Steps to New Fire Festival
What is NFF?
NEW FIRE Festival is a transfor-
mational festival. We have live
music, an artisan market, yoga,
workshops, games, camping,
tours of a working cocoa estate
and much much more! All the ac-
tivities are based in our principles
of sustainability and our theme
this year is dream, explore trans-
form. So - Live in the moment,
Practice mindfulness. Try some-
Where’s NFF being held?
NFF is thrilled to be in St Joseph,
the first capital of Trinidad at The
Ortinola Estate. Ortinola is a his-
toric cocoa estate in the Northern
Range, Maracas Valley, St Joseph,
where cocoa has been grown
since the 1800’s. The estate is
surrounded by natural rainforest,
and the Acono river runs through
Is it difficult to get to NFF?
The Ortinola Estate is about
twenty minutes drive from the
St Joseph junction. We have signs
along the way. You can also utilize
our partners Drop Taxi service
and leave your car at home. Taxis
work along the route to University
of the Southern Caribbean from

But, ever had a friend show up at
home unexpectedly? Yeah! Great

Be a zero-waste hero
Zero waste means working to-
ward sending as little as possible
to the landfill. That’s really impor-
tant in Trinidad and Tobago, since
our dumps are almost at capacity
and single-use plastics, styrofoam
or disposables will take hundreds
of years to break down. NFF is a
zero waste event so that means
we don’t allow single use plas-
tics, styrofoam and disposables
on site from vendors or patrons.
Do bring your reusable beverage
and food containers. Our vendors
will serve you in your reusable
containers and we have wash-up
stations to keep things clean.
What about water?
We’ve got water for all! Free, cool
and filtered. Stay hydrated!
We’ve worked with Hydra-STA-
TION since year one to prevent
thousands of plastic water bottles
going to the landfill. Fill up your
reusable bottle as many times as
you want, we’ve got you!
You’ve got drinks
We know NFF gives you enough
energy to have a magical weekend
but you are free to bring drinks in
your coolers. Remember - no sin-
gle use plastics and no styrofoam.
Soft items and ice will be availa-
ble at our bar and from vendors
in our marketplace.
We believe in building commu-
nity so we want you to truly en-
gage with us at NFF. Say hello to
the volunteers and chat with the
folks at the market. You might
have something in common. Who
knows, that hello might start a
fruitful conversation or a great
Everyone’s Safety is important
NFF is a warm, dynamic and in-
clusive space and we want you to
be open to the beauty of having
a transformative experience. We
have extensive HSE and traffic
management plans and there are
safety officers and first respond-
ers on site to make sure that you
are safe and secure. Please help
us by taking reasonable precau-
tions and paying attention to the
notices on site.
NEW FIRE festival is grounded
in principles of ecological
mindfulness and sustainabil-
ity, demonstrating how we can
develop and enjoy community
while being environmentally
responsible. We can have an
amazing time, meet extraor-
dinary people, share fruitful
exchanges, sample delicious
food, explore local artistry,
enjoy amazing performances
and participate in transform-
ative workshops in a safe, in-
clusive, uplifting space. Come
light your fire!
