fund the establishment of a diplo-
matic academy at the University of

The Water and Sewerage Authority (WASA)
intends to look into the possibility of construct-
ing retention ponds to capture water for agri-
cultural purposes for next year s dry season,
says Minister in the Ministry of the Environ-
ment and Water Resources, Ramona Ramdi-
al.She made the comment at her Couva North
Constituency offices on Tuesday, where she was
distributing prizes to the winners of the UNC's
Couva North Women's raffle.
Ramdial said WASA would be monitoring all
sources of water and stepping up its conservation
and awareness programme when it came to col-
lecting and storing water for the dry season.
She said WASA would also be looking at new
methods to harvest rain water in rural areas.
Ramdial said her ministry would also be working
closely with the Drainage Division of the Ministry
of Works and Infrastructure to get the pond
project off the ground.
She said the construction of three waste water
treatment plants was scheduled to begin next
Ramdial said WASA had effectively managed
water supplies during this year's dry season.
Consumers, she said, received a constant supply
of truck-borne supply and those on a scheduled
supply were satisfied.
She said the recent death of corbeaux at
Chaguaramas may have been caused by poison-
ing. She said reports so far have indicated that
the birds did not die because of biological causes.

come into full force during the next academic year
at UWI and it would start with an international
conference in September of this year.
