Home' Trinidad and Tobago Guardian : June 13th 2013 Contents Luxury auto mobile brand Audi continues on its
drive for growth in T&T, and is reported to be hitting
its mark, according to Reyaz Ahamad, Audi brand
director with Southern Sales and Service Company
Speaking at the June 1 seventh annual Audi Quattro
Cup Golf Tournament held at St Andrews Golf
Course in Moka, Maraval, he said 2012 was a record
year for sales. Last year, Audi sold 300 units to carve
out a market share of almost 40 per cent and become
the number one local luxury brand.
"Thus far for 2013, sales are up four per cent for
the same period over 2012. The strong growth for
the past few years has been fuelled by advancement
in technology, new products and passion for customer
service," he said.
Ahamad added, "Presently, we carry ten Audi
models in Trinidad. Our success is based upon the
premium brand widening its appeal to a larger target
audience and customers purchasing an Audi at an
earlier age than before. We will continually evaluate
our after sales process and strive to ensure our com-
mitment to exceeding our customer satisfaction
(and) expectations are our number one priority."
Ulrich Swharze, director of marketing and public
relations Audi Latin America, said worldwide Audi
sold 1.4 million cars in 2012, which was a new record
for the brand. The figure represented 11 per cent
growth from the previous year.
"This means T&T did a great job. Last year, 300
units were sold, giving it a market share of 38 per
cent to become the number one local luxury brand.
The relationship between Audi international and
Southern Sales and Service was entering its 15th
year and represented an excellent collaboration,"
Swharze added, "We want to become the number
one automotive brand in the world. We are already
number one in China, we are already number on
Europe and, of course, we hope to become number
one in America, South America and the Caribbean
as well. We will spend, over the next three years,
US$30 billion for new products, technology, innovation
and new plant."
