Kes The Band will take a break
from touring to stage a full-length
concert in Trinidad and Tobago next
#KBTLive will be held in Conjunction
with Digicel Trinidad and Tobago Lim-
ited, on July 13, at O2 Park, Chaguara-
In addition to hearing KTB play a
range of hits, both past and present,
patrons will be treated to an oasis of
booths featuring music education, in-
strumentation, a video gaming booth
fueled by Courts Trinidad, a band/jam
room, music school, DJ equipment,
and a Sumo wrestling ring!
Bringing the treats to cool you
down will be Cold Stone Creamery.
SLAM 100.5 has also partnered with
the band to provide the music on that
"As artistes, we always support
youth empowerment in any way that
we can," said Kees Dieffenthaller, lead
singer for KTB. "As a band however,
we thought it was time for a concen-
trated movement - something that
was not given to us when we were at
school dreaming about what we
wanted to achieve. KTB has carved
it's own style, sound and live experi-
ence over the years, so it's always
awesome when we create our own
space like this to truly explore the di-
versity of this band."
Designed and set out more like a
one-day trade fair/music festival,
rather than your typical fete, the main
emphasis of the show will be on
music education and professional
music opportunities within the indus-
try. There will be the sensibility of up-
close appeal resonating throughout
the day as parents with their younger
ones can learn about opportunities in
entertainment law, song writing work-
shops, music engineering, music pro-
duction technology, playing
instruments, DJing and more.
The impetus for the KTB Live initia-
tive started with the band's mini-tour
at various secondary schools in
Trinidad for a series of workshops.
There was such an overwhelmingly
positive response from students and
educators alike, that the band took it
upon themselves to launch this #KT-
BLive Experience Event. It aims to en-
courage more in Trinidad and
Tobago's education system to get in-
volved in re-introducing music devel-
opment, by adding facilities and
providing music-learning opportuni-
ties, back into the classroom for
"Going to different schools and
sharing our life experiences was not
only inspiring for the students, but for
ourselves as well," Kees said. "It re-
minded us of where it all began. #KT-
BLive the concert gives us the chance
to celebrate with this generation of
thinkers, believers and dreamers. May
they continue to be inspired to create
change and progress."
The #KTBLive event is on Saturday, July 13
@O2. Doors open at 3pm, with live music by Kes
The Band from 6pm - 8pm. Early bird tickets will
