position, on contract, in the Criminal Injuries Compensation Board, Ministry of
JOB TITLE: CLERICAL ASSISTANT
The incumbent is required to perform clerical support to the Criminal Injuries Compensation
REPORTS TO: Accounts Officer
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Registers all incoming and outgoing correspondence
Dispatches correspondence and delivers correspondence to officers
Receives and records office supplies and equipment
Issues office supplies, maintains inventory of furniture, equipment, and stores in keeping with
established procedures and guidelines
Establishes and maintains a filing system
Establishes and maintains a data entry system
Performs Customer Relation activities
Maintains the file registry system
Any other duties related to the job function as they may be required from time to time.
Maintains the Petty Cash Imprest System.
Performs cheque writing duties
Source quotations for the purchasing of goods and supplies
Operates a computer, utilizing word processing and other software as well as other standard
office machines such as scanners, photocopiers and facisimile machines.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Considerable knowledge of modern office practices and procedures.
Considerable knowledge of relevant Public Service rules, regulations, instructions and procedures.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Must be Computer Literate with knowledge of Word, Excel, Access, Powerpoint, Publisher.
Possesses the ability to utilize the Internet productively.
Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
Ability to demonstrate problem solving skills
Ability to compose and prepare standard documents such as letters, memoranda, minutes reports.
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING:
Five GCE or CXC O'Level passes including Mathematics and English Language.
