This year's Arima Pageant Royale being held
on June 13th promises to be different, innovative
and definitely an "entertainment showcase". The
Arima Pageant Committee is determined to cre-
ate ambassadresses out of the delegates.
Deputy mayor, Cedeno-Metivier says this year's
pageant will be in keeping with its theme "A Touch
of Elegance". She says all the entire Arima Fest ac-
tivities are designed for the people of Arima and
she hopes they will all participate and enjoy as the
borough celebrates 125 years.
The pageant will be held at the Arima New Gov-
ernment Primary School and hosted by Sharon
Pitt and Mark Anthony. The Honourable Minister,
Dr. Lincoln Douglas will be present on the night.
Deputy mayor, Patricia Cedeno-Metivier, will pay
tribute to the late Andre Belix, former fashion de-
signer from Arima.
Each contestant will participate in three seg-
ments; costume, swimwear and evening gown,
and will be ushered onto stage by members of the
Trinidad and Tobago Cadets.
Pedro Lezama will serenade the delegates on
the saxophone, while staff and students of the
UTT fashion department will delight with their
unique pieces during the fashion segment. On the
night, there will be also be a performance by Shur-
wayne Winchester, a calypso medley by Dexter
Parsons and a presentation by the Eastern Per-
The objective of the event is to make the dele-
gates more marketable, employable and to give
them the life skills they need, says Marsha La Coa,
member of the Ms. Arima Pageant Committee.
Cherry Antoine, the show's coordinator, describes
working with the girls as fun and a learning experi-
ence and is excited to do it again, once given the
Artistic director of the Miss Arima Borough
2013, Lester Rauseo, the coordinator known for
making magic happen in a short period of time is
the man at the helm of the beauty show. He is
looking closely at the 11 contestants for their "level
of discipline, focus on rehearsals, punctuality to re-
hearsals, knowledge of Arima and their knowledge
of national, regional and international issues".
The Arima Borough Committee is very set on
making this pageant a success and in keeping with
this, Rauseo has implemented what he calls the
Pageant Perfection Program, where the contest-
ants are taught and guided in social etiquette, per-
sonal grooming and stage dynamics. The girls have
also gotten the opportunity to give back to their
community by working with the Joshua Home for
boys and the Memisa Home.
Tickets to the pageant cost only TT$100 each and can be
purchased at Arima Town Hall.

Alicia describes herself as humble, loyal, and genuine.
She entered this competition to gain a fresh perspective
on life as well as to learn to embrace feminism. If she
wins, she hopes to be an excellent example of the com-
bination of beauty, intelligence and grace to the young
women of Arima, as well as help facilitate or inspire
some of their goals, and by extension, Trinidad.
Name: Niala Lewis
Location: Mc Neil street, River road, Arima
Sponsor: Sylvester's Bar
Education level: Five Rivers Secondary school.
Niala is beautiful, smart, and charitable. She entered
this competition because this is something that she
likes and she believes it can be a stepping-stone into her
future endeavours. She wants to make a difference by
approaching every task positively so that young per-
sons can follow her footsteps.
Name: Gini McClean
Location: Sanchez street, Arima
Sponsor: Woodville Industries
Education level: Nursing student at COSTAATT.
Gini believes herself to be humble, adventurous, and
creative. The reason she entered this competition was
to explore interest for pageants, which she finds very
fascinating. "I take a lot of pride in representing my
community," says Gini. If she wins, she would like the
opportunity to work with charities and help in whatever
way she can. She is currently a nursing student and has
a passion for caring and helping; "I am people oriented
all the way," says Gini.
Name: Bianca Augustus
Location: Robert street, Arima
Sponsor: D & D Engineering
Education level: Social Work student at UWI.
Bianca describes herself as passionate, focused, and
strong-willed. "I want to be a role model to the young
ladies in my community and to have the opportunity to
represent my borough," says Bianca. If she is the holder
of the title, she would like to put together a group of
young adults that have the same desire to contribute to
Arima and the nation through charity work/volun-
Name: Chenee Ifill
Location: Pinto road, Arima

Education level: Human Resource Management stu-
dent at UWI.
Chenee believes herself to be kind, outgoing, and
beautiful. She entered the pageant for the overall expe-
rience, to meet new people and make new friends. She
wants to learn more about Arima's rich history.
"If I win, I would like to form a group of positive role
models for the youths of Arima -- to encourage them
not to give in to peer pressure."
Name: Jonnelle Rudolpho
Location: Sorzano street East, Arima
Sponsor: EPL Property
Education level: Artist Performance student at EPAF.
Jonnelle says she is unique, optimistic and intelligent.
She entered this competition to be able to learn more
about Arima and interact with young, beautiful ladies
like herself. "I love my community and would take pride
in being an ambassador," says Jonnelle. "If I win, I would
definitely make my presence felt and in doing so, I will
make a difference by trying hard to eliminate street
dwelling and crime. I will make sure that Trinidad and
Tobago and other countries know about my lovely town
Name: Safiya Whiskey
Age: 20 years
Location: Santa Rosa Heights, Arima

Education level: Year two student pursuing a degree
in Performing Arts at UTT Napa.
Safiya says she is loving, outgoing and passionate.
She entered this contest to win the title, gain experi-
ence and learn more about our rich history, which she
intends to pass on to her friends and family. "I'm very
proud to be a role model for Arima," says Safiya. "If I win
the title of Miss Arima, firstly I would like to open a cen-
tre where up- coming performers can express them-
selves. As a performer, I believe our craft is taken for
granted. Within this centre, I would like the youths of
Arima to perform plays about our rich history, not only
for the people of Arima to know about but outsiders as
Name: Trisha Sherice Ramkissoon
Age: 18 years
Location: Maturita Trace, Arima

Education level: El Dorado West Secondary School.
Trisha describes herself as intelligent, spontaneous
and charming. She wants to show other communities
that Arima is full of talented and beautiful people. " If I
win, I would be a positive role model to all the young
women of Arima and also to those throughout the
country. I would encourage them to do positive things
and feel good about themselves," says Trisha
Name: Kimberly Danielle Charles
Age: 20 years
Location: Malabar, Arima
Sponsor: Classic Laundry
Education level: Malabar Secondary Arima.
Kimberly is soft hearted, giving and patient. She
loves Arima and also takes pride in her community. En-
tering this competition gives her the opportunity to
show people how nice Arima is. If she wins, she intends
to market Arima by visiting schools and doing as much
charity work as she can because Arima deserves a
queen who cares.
Name: Danielle Stephanie Williams
Age: 18 years
Location: Calvary Branch Road Arima

Education level: Lakshmi Girls HIndu College.
Danielle describes herself as intelligent, amenable,
and adaptable. She entered this competition to gain ex-
perience. She has dreams of becoming Miss Universe
one day. If she wins, Danielle will work with the youths
in the society to enhance and better their lives while
also being a good role model.
