The Edinburgh Hindu Temple of Edinburgh Village, Old
Southern Main Road, Chaguanas, celebrates their 30th
anniversary on Sunday 18th August, 2013. This exclusive
monument to the Hindu religion in Edinburgh Village, is
the testament of a dedicated few who in 1981 started the
construction of a holy shrine in order to replace the old
temple with a modern user-friendly place of worship. We
are proud to proclaim that the Edinburgh Hindu Temple
was the first Temple to be fully-air-conditioned in
Trinidad and this provided the ambience and the comfort
that devotees needed to pray in heavenly peace.

• Discussions held last week during my annual pilgrimage
to India and dialogue with an Ashram in Rishikesh about
seeking lecturers to come to Trinidad to speak on 'Happy
Living' and the need for more spirituality and less re-
liance on materialistic pursuits.
• The Shivananda Ashram is also interested in sending
their missionaries to Trinidad to assist in fulfilling our
plans. We are considering the school vacation period in
2014 to launch this
concerns are met. In
this regard we hope
to receive some fund-
ing from the Govern-
ment to assist our
• Whilst our Sunday
morning services are
geared to all, we are
young people to read
religious and philo-
sophical texts ie: Dr.
Phil McGraw, Osho,
John Mason, Joel &
Victoria Osteen, Dr.
Deepak Chopra, etc.,
in order to involve
their participation in
the sermonizing as-
pect of our Sunday
morning services. We
also plan to approach
the local government
agencies i.e.: Police,
Ministry of the Evi-
ronment, Health, Edu-
cation related to
career choices, etc., to
speak on a once a
month basis to the
future generations of
our beloved nation.
• We shall continue to
award trophies and
other gifts to the stu-
dents of our congre-
gation upon their
ments. This year
2013, the Honourable
Attorney General was
instrumental in financing this program.
• We are planning to perform Satsanghs at Temples in
2014 that are free to welcome members of the Edin-
burgh Hindu Temple for religious discourses. The sole
purpose being to preach the word of God and to create
harmony among the practicing religions of our country.
The Edinburgh Hindu Temple can be contacted through
our Facebook page.
• Our annual outreach programs include the performance
of Ganga Pooja on the seafront at Ma-
yaro for the annual Kartick Snan in the
Hindu Calendar. This annual pilgrimage
from Chaguanas to Mayaro at the
home of Kamla & Boodram Ramoutar
usually takes place the Sunday morn-
ing before the actual Kartik date.
Devotees from all over Trinidad visit
and participate in this holy observance
for cleansing the mind and the body.
Pundit Tiwari has been carrying this
exercise for over 13 years bringing
great joy and goodwill to all members
of our society that attend our Ganga
Pooja. The Ramoutars take great
pleasure in preparing meals for over
400 persons who attend and for those
who are simply taking a bath in the
sea at Mayaro.
• We have started the Lord Ganesha's
Utsov observance at Waterloo in 2013
on the sea and in the year 2014 our
prayers will include Abhishekam with
sea water, Ganesh Pooja, Flowers and
Fruit Offerings, Tassa, Bahamans and
the sending off of our Ganesh Marti to
be immersed into the Ocean by sea
going vessels. Visit our facebook page
for more information.
