Rihanna is set to perform in her second live concert in her home is-
land of Barbados on November 2.
The concert this time will be produced by Live Nation Entertainment
and is expected to be her last on the island for a while. Two years ago, the
Barbados Tourism Authority (BTA) promoted a concert by the Barbadian
superstar at Kensington Oval, however, this time around, the show will be
produced by international concert promoters Live Nation Entertainment.
Since being discovered in Barbados, Rihanna has gone on to top the pop
world with a string of hits.
She has sold more than 100 million records worldwide and is the
youngest solo artist to achieve 12 number one singles on Billboard's Hot

Tickets for the opening night gala of the
2013 trinidad+tobago film festival (ttff), which
runs from September 17 to October 1, are now
The gala takes place on September 17 from
6pm at Queen's Hall. It comprises a red carpet
cocktail reception and the Caribbean premiere of
the film Half of a Yellow Sun.
Based on the award-winning novel by Nigerian
author Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, Half of a Yel-
low Sun is an epic drama set in that country in

5 Miles to Midnight's single "Don't Regret" is the
soundtrack of the trinidad+tobago film festival 2013
Formerly known as A Moment of Silence, the band
changed its names to to reflect a new and improved musi-
cal vision. Members are Alex Ou Young and Shallun Sammy
on guitars, Rhys Thompson on drums, Robert Evelyn on
bass, Dale E.P. Dolly on keyboard with Liam King on vocals.
5 Miles to Midnight have opened for major music con-
certs and for international acts here in Trinidad such as Ma-
roon 5, Evanesance, Life House, Far East Movement and
Stephen Marley. They have also worked with major
local entertainers such as Machel Montano, Nebula 868,
Tony Prescott and Mark Hardy. 5 Miles to Midnight won
the Trinidad and Tobago Anchorage Pop Rock Awards
2010, also taking the prizes for best drummer, best
cover, best bassist and best vocalist. Singles from their
current album have been released on local radio stations
such as Star 94.7, Hott 93.5 and 95.1 FM.
Their collaboration with soca queen Fay-Ann Lyons
Alvarez on the single 'DIMIT' caught everyone's atten-
tion and showcased how this island flavoured rock band
the late 1960s. The story brings au-
diences into a land torn apart by
civil war and shows how the inter-
woven lives of five central charac-
ters intersect during a struggle to
establish the independent republic
Half of a Yellow Sun stars ac-
claimed actors Thandie Newton
and Chiwetel Ejiofor as Olanna, the
daughter of a wealthy family, and
Odenigbo, her "revolutionary" lover,
respectively. The film recently had
its world premiere at the presti-
gious Toronto International Film
Festival, where it was well received.
In its review of the film, the mag-
azine Screen Daily wrote: "The
sheer scope of its story is absorb-
ing and fans of the book will enjoy
its vision of a tense and changing
country rent asunder by tribal
feuds. Nothing can be taken away
from the intensity of the drama."
Variety magazine praised the
film's performances, saying, "New-
Olanna" while "Ejiofor does his reli-
able best as the suave, articulate
