DOWN THE DRAIN
Firstly, congrats to the PNM
on winning the election.
People vote for party, leader,
candidate in that order. These
results mirror the disapproval
of the Prime Minister.
The results have significant
implications. Do we have an
election burnout, that is, too
many elections in a short
time span. Note the percent-
age voter turn-out.
The government appears to
be a rapidly crumbling insti-
tution. Does the ILP have a
future? Have we boiled back
down to PNM, UNC?
The appeal of the Robin
Hood syndrome of the party
in green appears to be rapidly
diminishing and dwindling.
Maybe we have no place for a
third party in T&T.
The analysis of the last
general elections results
showed anti-Manning, not
anti-PNM. What about San
Fernando East, should we
have another election?
The UNC, by their candi-
date selection, never believed
this seat was attainable. This
was not about box drains.
The loser blames the ILP.
The UNC has lost support
at an accelerated pace. After
Patrick Manning was defeat-
ed, what was next? There
was no plan.
The UNC has lost four
elections in one year. In Mr
Warner s terms the score is

The "floating vote" brings
home the election. In UNC s
case, it appears to have sunk.
A UNC seat is now PNM.

I wish to humbly suggest
Mr Panday, charming fellow
that he is, not be in any
election panel discussions.
When he was Prime Minis-
ter, he was not that charis-
matic. One does not have to
be politically polite to him.
Anything you ask him is
"constitutional reform," that
seems to be his mantra for
everything. His time has
passed. We must acknowledge
Terrence Deyalsingh is the
new MP for St Joseph. It is
not "alleged", it s a fact. You
cannot get attorney Om Lalla
on the phone.
Director, let s take a break!
THE PAST ELECTIONS
Jack putting ego first
After viewing Jack Warner's "defeat"
speech on Monday night I am wholly
convinced that he has a personal
vendetta towards the PP Govt and
more particularly, specific UNC mem-
It did not seem so when he resigned
and contested Chaguanas West but in
observing his recent behaviour in the
local government elections and most
recently, the St Joseph by-election it be-
came most obvious.
What Jack Warner is doing is putting
his ego before the people and represen-
tation. The ILP is a mere political vehicle
used to carry out this battle disguised
as a trustworthy and viable option for
the electorate. The sad part is that
some 100,000 voters who actually be-
lieve that he and the ILP are here for
System of governance
For many elections, whether it is a
general, local or by-election, we have
seen time and time again that the ma-
jority of the electorate vote against the
PNM, yet they end up ruling T&T for
many years. That is not true democracy
but a failed system.
I believe that there needs to be some
form of constitutional reform within the
next year to address this or else here in
T&T we can never say, "Vox Populi Vox
Dei": The Voice of the People is the
Voice of God.
Remove ugly billboard
Why is it not surprising that the Min-
istry of Agriculture is now trying to ab-
dicate responsibility for the erection of
the large, ugly, flashing billboard that is
erected on its own premises?
Town and Country Planning said that
it was illegal, so simply remove it! It
doesn't matter who was in office when
the agreement was made with the un-
named contractor. As it is illegal all par-
ties to the agreement were wrong to
I think that the billboard is an eyesore
whenever I look at the beautiful hillside.
Some trees were cut down just to ac-
commodate this monstrosity.
Please remove it and plant some
trees, Ministry of Agriculture, and let's
enjoy the beauty of nature once more.

back to the PNM. Back in 2002
and 2007, they were neglected. I
can't say they were properly rep-
resented when Mr Volney was MP
for the UNC either.
However, Ian Alleyne would
have been the best man to deliver
to the people of St Joseph.
In the 14 days during his cam-
paign he delivered so much when
compared to the previous MPs for
the area. He even did better than
his opponents in the by-election.
The PNM want to make St
Joseph their heartland but neg-
lected them for so long.
Volney's joining the ILP just
goes to show where the non-per-
formers and those who can't de-
liver are going to split the vote
because they do not like the UNC
The Prime Minister has to en-
sure now that the current MPs of
the PP Government do not per-
form like Volney or else the PNM
will just effortlessly swoop in and
take their seats, because like it or
not, the ILP has split the votes of
the Partnership and even took
some of the PNM supporters.
The PNM supporters, however,
are united because there is no in-
house fighting as between the
UNC, COP and ILP.
Enough with the politics, elec-
tions, mudslinging, now is time for
T&T to settle down and focus
more on work!
