Applications are invited from suitably qualified nationals of Trinidad
and Tobago for employment, on contract, for a period one (1) year and
six (6) months and three (3) years respectively in the following
positions, Division of Ageing, Ministry of the People and Social
OFFICE OPERATIONS MANAGER
This job requires the incumbent to be responsible for the general
operational functions at the Division of Ageing.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Co-ordinates the procurement of office supplies and services.
• Assists the Director in the preparation of the Estimates for Recurrent
• Advises the Director on personnel matters.
• Liaises with service providers for implementing programmes of the
• Ensures the functioning of equipment and facilities in the Division
• Conducts the annual Performance Appraisals of supervised staff
• Assists the Office Administration Manager in Division's
• Other job related duties as required.
Qualifications And Experience:
• Diploma or Associate Degree in Business Administration or
• Considerable experience (at least four (4) years) in Office
Management and/or Accounting.
The job requires the incumbent to responsibly undertake a range of safety and
health functions at Homes and Care facilities for older persons, including
inspections of operation procedures; investigating complaints; reviewing
reports; providing advice and support to stakeholders; and ensuring compli-
ance with laws and regulations governing standards of care as specified in the
Homes for Older Persons legislation.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Conducts quarterly inspections (and any inspections requested by the
Director, Division of Ageing) and audits of Homes for the Aged, and
submits completed Inspection Forms to Inspector II within timeframes
specified in the legislation on Homes for Older Persons.
• Conducts random and periodic assessments of facilities established by the
Ministry of People and Social Development as components of the
Continuum of Health and Social Support Services for Older Persons.
Qualifications And Experience:
• Diploma, Certificate, or Associate Degree in Social Work, Quality Assurance
or Planning or related Social Science.
• Experience in health and safety related environment.
• Training in mediation and conflict resolution would be an asset.
• A minimum of two (2) years working experience is preferred.

Division of Ageing
National Pre-Cadet duo Jasher De
Gannes and Joshua Maxwell lived up
to the pre-tournament hype by cap-
turing the Under-13 singles crowns
when the Scotiabank Schools Table
Tennis Championship concluded at
the Scarborough Secondary School,
De Gannes of Bishop s High and
the reigning U-11 and U-13 Solo
national junior singles champion
emerged as her age-group champion
after she topped a four-player round-
robin series, involving Shaneeka John-
son, Brittany Lee and Ranelle Bharats-
ingh, with a 3-0 record.
The 12-year-old De Gannes, who
captured a bronze medal in the U-13
girls singles at the Eighth Latin Amer-
ican Table Tennis Championship, in
Guatemala City, Guatemala last month
and is also the reigning Caribbean U-
13 champion, defeated Johnson 11-2,
11-9 and followed it up with wins over
Lee, 11-6, 11-6 and Bharatsingh, 11-
Johnson took second spot after she
won her other two matches against
Lee (11-7, 11-1) and Bharatsingh (11-
1, 11-4) while Lee got third with an
11-5, 9-11, 11-6 victory over Bharats-
De Gannes was also member of the
senior women s team which won a
fourth Caribbean title in St Lucia in
August and also paired with France-
based Rheann Chung for women s
doubles silver at the same tournament
while she led T&T to 18 medals at the
eighth Caribbean Regional Table Ten-
nis Federation Pre-Cadet Champi-
onship at the Cliff Anderson Sports
Hall, Georgetown, Guyana in July.
Goodwood High student, Maxwell,
who the mixed doubles with De
Gannes in Guyana, the boys U-13 sin-
gles, doubles with Jakeem Welch of
Scarborough Secondary and the team
title, got the better of national team-
mate 11-6, 9-11, 14-12 in their decider.
In the semifinals, Maxwell defeated
another Scarborough student and
national team-mate Roberto Johnson
11-6, 11-5 while Welch stopped Jesse
Dookie of Trimont College 11-2,11-6.
Last month, Jakeem Welch and
Roberto Johnson combined for Scar-
borough Secondary to win, the U-15
Boys doubles via an 11-8, 10-12, 11-
4 win over Fatima College s Alex Wal-
cott and Daniel Henriques after they
won the team finals, 3-2 over Fatima
In the U-11 age-group, Messiah
Walcott, the reigning Caribbean Pre-
Cadet champion and Shreya Maharaj
Walcott came from a set down to
beat national team-mate Derron Dou-
glas, the reigning national U-11 and
Tobago Open winner 6-11, 11-6, 12-
10 for the title.
Earlier on, Walcott eased past St
Barbara s national player Aaron
Amoroso 11-8, 11-7 while Douglas
overcame St Andrews Anglican Jalen
Kerr 11-8, 11-5
The trio of Walcott, Amoroso and
Douglas were all part of the Pre-Cadet
winning boys quartet with Brandon
Lee Young, who did not participate.
And in the U-11 girls, St Peter s Private
Primary student Maharaj made light
work of Shurja Welch 11-4, 11-1 in
their title match.
In the semifinals, Maharaj, the
national U-11 champion stopped Ack-
ayla Lucas, the reigning Tobago Open
U-11 champion 11-8, 11-5 and Welch
beat Rayanna Boodhan 11-5, 8-11, 11-
