UK RACING RESULTS
is set to finally
come good in the
over 12 furlongs
ton tonight. This
found colossal improvement on the course last
month and so nearly caused a major upset.
Ridden positively (and surprisingly well-backed
from 33/1 to half those odds!) Strandfield Bay led
approaching the final furlong only to be collared in
the last strides by 74-rated Nickels And Dimes. A
neck separated them and a race-report suggested
the runner-up was "slightly hampered!"
Judged on that, Strandfield Bay is now in the form
of his life, aged seven!
Thrice-raced Gwael will be favourite but on the
time-handicap Strandfield Bay, now trained by Sharon
Watt, having previously been in Ireland, is way supe-
rior and definitely worth a punt to make it 18th time
Although there are several major races being staged
this afternoon, none is more intriguing than this.
Honestly, I can t wait!
Half an hour later, Joohaina gets her chance in the
nine-runner Maiden Stakes over seven furlongs. What
beats this Marco Botti-trained New Approach filly
Racing for the first time on polytrack last month,
Joohaina made the running at right-handed Kempton
but weakened in the closing stages of a mile event.
It was probably a shade too far and significantly, she
is dropped back in trip.
RACE 52 (#3) STRANDFIELD BAY
RACE 53 (#9) JOOHAINA (nap e.w.)
RACE 55 (#7) DISTANT PAST
