A selection of letters received

If your Twitter hashtag

year, boy 2013 was worse!
I see somebody say it was an
"annus horribilis." Well, the literal
Trini pronunciation might more
accurately convey how it was and
who caused it.
So make sure what you bring

people really want?
Hope you change your team
after failing to help me get it all,
else I might believe you wukking
for the UNC and liming with
them on the sly.
Might be a good move to pelt
Donner to the back of the sled
and kick Blitzen to the curb. I
myself did just that in my own

THE ANNUAL NORTH POLE MAIL...
Accused child abductor
to nation: I am Sorry
The twisted world we live in. Most
of these domestic issues could be set-
tled if the "emotion" is removed and
practical, sensible, reasonable solu-
tions are sought in goodwill---in media-
tion by an elder or if both people are
mature enough to negotiate reason-
ably by some straight talk...
Well said. Not every issue involving
family need to have police and the
courts involved. Negotiation, with em-
phasis on what's best for the child,
could resolve minor issues before they
result in mis-steps.
There is a major deficit in emotional
intelligence in our country. We have to
find a way to make our schools begin
immediately to develop "EQ" (as it is
called) as well as IQ. Statistics tell us
that many imprisoned males don't
have shabby IQs, but it is their emo-
tional deficiency that lands them into
trouble, harming our women and chil-
dren along the way. I wonder if this
kind of thing is even on the radar of
the Ministry of Education.
Drop in prices of
rice, flour and oil
According to the article, the retailers
will get a rebate on any of these prod-
ucts they buy between December 16
and 24 and shoppers will be able to
buy them at a 20 per cent reduction
on December 23 and 24 only. I reckon
the retailers will stock up for three
months but stocks on the shelves will
run out midday Monday and Tuesday.
So it probably won't benefit the
poor half as much as it does the re-
tailer and in any case these are all the
kind of bottom-of-the-market highly-
processed products that give us all di-
Looks more like Scrooge than Santa.
Ironically, flour, rice and oil are three
major ingredients that are sending us
to the hospitals.
