following a report in the Express
last week which stated a private
hospital had failed to report a sur-

The association reminded all doc-

stay within the prescribed legal
guidelines with respect to treating
patients involved in illegal activities
or who may be the victims of such
It added: "Please remember that
it is a legal requirement that all

was unclear whether
there was any specific

He said it was also a possibility
the doctors at the private hospital
felt bound to follow doctor/patient
confidentiality protocol over making
any disclosure to authorities.
"Doctors are bound by that,
unless court-ordered to do other-

Cap-de-Ville/Cedros councillor Ramesh Sewnal
says the murder of Cedros grandparents Krishna
and Radha Ramdeen is a wake-up call that no com-
munity in T&T can escape crime.
Sewnal said so on Tuesday while speaking with
reporters at Beach Road, Fullarton, Cedros. He had
earlier visited relatives of the dead couple.
Krishna, 63, and Radha, 57, parents of four and
grandparents of eight, were found murdered in their
Beach Road home by their son, Ravi, around 8.35 am
when he went to check on them. They were not
responding to calls.
Ravi found his father on his parents bed and his
mother on the floor with a plastic bag over her head.
He said he was too traumatised to speak with the
Sewnal expressed shock over the murders.
"These kinds of things do not happen in Cedros,"
Sewnal said the killings are a "wake-up call to the
community. You cannot think that it cannot happen
here. There will be no vigilantes, but we have to be
more vigilant and observe people coming into the
He said the situation was "terrible" and he was
saddened by the Ramdeens deaths. He said they
had supported him in his local government campaign
last year and were community-oriented.
"Our community, our village lives like one family.
It will take some time to come to terms with this.
You never think that something like this could happen
here. It is really terrible," he said.
Neighbours said they are now living in fear after
the murder of the couple.
