Branch to recommend a pedestrian crossing and
amber light for their area.
A petition with more than 50 residents signatures
was delivered to the T&T Guardian building earlier
"We are in need of a pedestrian crossing and amber
light at Mt D Or Road, Champs Fleurs, on the main
road and on the staircase near the bus route," the peti-

"Most people take a chance to cross on the main
road and on the bus route, because vehicles are very
reluctant to stop for pedestrians. There is no light or
sign or anything that can assist us in crossing," Thomp-

there and with all these accidents on the road, I think
someone in authority would put a light."
Thompson said though there was a light for people
to cross near Carib Brewery, one was needed in Mt
"In addition, on Mt D Or Road after Witco there

the petition in support of the young children and eld-
"I signed to support my community. I signed for

ones who most of the time get problems to cross,"
Valentine, who is a taxi driver, said he had witnessed
situations where people had almost been hit by vehicles
on the bus route because maxi taxis were reluctant
Councillor for the area Britt Carmino did not answer
several calls to her cell phone but chairman of the San
Juan/Laventille Regional Corporation Anthony Roberts
said he was not aware of the petition.
"They should send a copy to us so that we can also
make representation on their behalf," Roberts said.
"I am certain the councillor would have raised the
issue if she had known, but we will certainly try to
assist on behalf of our burgesses."
