Break the monotony of gift giving and
book a cruise or a weekend getaway
for mom this Mother's Day. Plan the
vacation with her schedule in mind. If
mom works, she can't be whisked off
during the workweek to relax -- she
has to take time off from work.
Even if she doesn't have job responsibili-
ties, keep in mind she probably has already
made plans to do other things. A short
two-day weekend getaway may be the
best option. However, if mom loves to
travel and you know she'll be willing to drop
everything at a moment's notice, then a
cruise or a longer vacation may be the best
Get her tickets and other documents ready.
Make sure everything is in order so mom
does not have to do anything except show
up. You can pack her luggage also, keeping
in mind her style and personality and what
she will feel most comfortable in. Remem-
Thinking of your mom in sexy lingerie is certainly a thought many of
us would rather not have. Still, it is important to know that mom is a
human being and she has a life of her own. So would mom like to re-
ceive lingerie as a present? Maybe not from her son, but her daugh-
ter could certainly get away with it.
If you're the son (and thanking your lucky stars
that you don't have to go out and get lingerie
for your mother) then maybe you can get her a
bath robe. These are easily available and come
in a wide range of colours and designs. Getting
her name or a soothing message embroidered
onto the robe would add a nice touch. (Note: a
message such as "Mom, you rock like your
pumice stone" is NOT a soothing message!)
If you do wish to get her sleepwear and you
would rather not think of lingerie then you can
get a feminine pyjama set with matching slip-
pers. When choosing this set, choose a colour
that your mom would like and look for a mate-
rial that feels soft against the skin. If your mom
is a fussy one then you will need to look at the
set closely and ensure that it doesn't button up
too close to her neck or it isn't too tight. You
can also choose to get her a decent, satin night
gown and satin robe. Again this robe can be
embroidered with her name or a message.
If you're the daughter and you have decided to
be bold and get mom some sexy lingerie then
there are some things you need to know. First
of all you need to know mom's size. If you wish
to surprise her then you must discreetly sneak
a bra and panties out of her
room and look at the size (this
is with the hope that mom ac-
tually wears the correct size).
Next, you need to consider if she
is adventurous or reserved, because
it makes no sense spending money
on something you know she will never
Know your mom's body type. Would you
wear something to emphasise that bit of
fat that hangs from under your arm? No!
Then mom would not either. Figure out her
body type. Does she have a flat stomach,
great legs, toned arms, full breasts? Get
something that would emphasise her qualities
and cover up the not so great ones. If you know
her stomach isn't flat then you can get her lin-
gerie that either covers or holds the stomach in.
It is important too that you don't embarrass
your mother when giving her the present.
Please, if you know she is the reserved type
then don't get her thongs...maybe a nice French
cut panty would do. Remember too that you're
spending money so that means buying some-
thing she will actually use.
ber to pack the things she uses most so
she will have her daily comforts with her.
For example, if mom has a motivational
book she reads daily, make sure that's in
Don't just book a hotel. Read hotel reviews
and find out all the information you can be-
fore you make a choice. You want a place
where mom is safe, comfortable and well
taken care of, not a nightmare.
Don't choose a destination that goes com-
pletely against your mom's personality.
Find a destination where there are things
to do and places to visit that mom would
enjoy: if mom loves museums, make sure
there are a few museums in that city.
Plan beforehand. If your mom has pets, get
a pet-sitter, if she has plants, get someone
reliable to water them. Tell the neighbours
to keep an eye on the house and let your
relatives know about the surprise vacation
so they don't turn up on the doorstep to
celebrate mom's birthday.
Finally, plan how you're going to tell her.
