I Play @ Martins is the name of a new series
of live shows billed for Martin s Piano Bar, on
Woodford Street, Newtown.
This restaurant and showplace is well known
throughout the Caribbean as a venue that supports
musicians and fine artists.
Over the years, owner Martin Baptiste has hosted
a number of wonderful live events, featuring many
artistes (local, regional and international) of different
genres and generations.
This new initiative is aimed at re-energising the
space with art and music. I Play @ Martins is a
series of events at the Woodford Street venue, fea-
turing a myriad of artistes, well supported by their
fans. On Fridays, from 5.30 pm, the After Work
Lime will feature old time kaiso sessions, live per-
formances and karaoke.
Every fourth Wednesday, from 7 pm, poetry will
be the focus, with spoken word and music at the
True Talk No Lie showcase.
This month s edition is scheduled for May 28
and it will feature the top three finalists of the
recent Verses Poetry Slam.
Also on the calendar at Martin s are art exhibi-
tions, dinner and live music, parties, concerts and
fashion shows. There are also plans afoot for a

Togetherness is the theme of the day as the com-
munity of Santa Cruz gets together for a day of
