The jury in the Vindra Naipaul-Coolman murder
trial was shown video footage yesterday of the
house where the State contends the businesswoman
The jury did not get to view the entire recording
as legal arguments forced High Court Judge Malcolm
Holdip to order the 12-member panel to return today
when the trial resumes.
Yesterday Cpl Nigel Stephens of the police Audio
Visual Unit pointed out two of the 12 accused as
being on the recording.
It showed inside and outside the unpainted brick
house at Upper La Puerta Avenue, Diego Martin.
Inside the house, a pooltable was shown propped
up against a wall. The State alleges that Naipaul-
Coolman was seated on the pooltable before she was
shot once in the chest.
Stephens said on the night of January 5, 2006 he
spoke with then ACP Maurice Piggott before heading
to police headquarters. Around 4 am the following
day he and Sgt Frederick went to Diego Martin where
Frederick pointed out the red brick house.
Afterward he began video recording people, three

May 30, armed with a gun, they robbed Winston
William of a quantity items, including a $260 bottle

It is alleged that they robbed Zorina Bachan of
a cellphone, a gold bera, two bottles of alcohol and
two cartons of cigarette, with a total value of $3,630,
and also robbed Kevin Deonarine of a $1,200 cell-
phone. They were not called upon to plead since
the charges were laid indictably.
Panday said the women had no previous convic-
tions or pending matters.
Noting that they were charged with two separate
robberies in Penal and New Grant and in one of
them someone had been shot, the magistrate refused

tenance matter in the Rio Claro Court.
Wellington told them of their right to apply to a
judge in chambers for bail and transferred the New
Grant robbery matter to the Princes Town Magistrates
Court for June 11.
The Penal robbery matters were transferred to
the Siparia court for June 13.
Lares will also have to appear in the Couva and
Rio Claro courts on June 9 and June 10 respectively.

Naipaul-Coolman, the CEO of Xtra Foods

Raphael Williams, died in prison in 2011.
