My suggestion is that you can check
photo studios, media houses or -- my
personal favourite -- get some recom-
mendations from friends and col-
leagues. Meet the photographer and
make sure that you clearly communi-
cate what you want done, the hours of
work and the locations. Also find out if
they have transport and know how to
get to your venues. Get a contract in
writing and booking details to ensure
that you are not disappointed.

I don't know if your photographer
lacked the skills, had poor equipment or
that something just did not flow for the
day. You can always ask guests to send
you their photos and I'm certain that you
will find some you like. Sometimes
make-up artists can do make-up that
photographers find more flattering.
(Was it hot or humid? Did the make-up
look streaky?) Another option is to hire
another photographer and just do some
great photos of you and your spouse in
wedding attire. This might be a better
option for you or you can just do some
photos at a studio. Photoshop might be
another great option.

Entertaining guests can fray your
nerves before the wedding when you are
busy attending to last minute details.
You may have to leave them to their
own devices or arrange for others to en-
tertain them. Hiring a large maxi to take
them to tourist spots and the beach
might be helpful. Delegate as much as
You can also get help from them for
example, to decorate, organise seating,
minor food preparations etc. If you are
having a three-day wedding they might
be quite happy to be involved in the
preparations and getting dressed up or
doing mehindi (a ceremony involving in-
tricate and temporary designs on hands
and feet). Just have fun and make the
whole event enjoyable.

Just like Grace under pressure you will
have to be tactful. I ask, who did you fall
in love with? He never misrepresented
himself. I hope that you will be honest
and open and discuss that you will pre-
fer a well-groomed appearance. Unless
he has that appearance for religious rea-
son, maybe a healthy compromise can
be a neat trim and remember you are
marrying the individual you feel in love

Thanks for the suggestions. I guess in
the tropics we should not take things
like sunny weather for granted. Cooling
systems are important to keep everyone
comfortable. Sometimes space can be
limited but adequate seating and addi-
tional seating must always be catered
for. Storage of food is important and
caterers and cooks usually handle this
well, even though delays sometimes af-
fect the quality of food. Thanks for your
ideas. Sometimes we overlook basic de-
tails that can spoil the special day.

While many have differences, they
also have similarities. A wedding is a
union of families and care should be
taken not to offend but create a good
impression. People may get along or
they may dislike each other. In the sec-
ond case you may want to keep social in-
teraction to a minimum. Some things are
beyond your control. Emotions run high
as well, and the focus is on the couple.
Hopefully everyone will get along and
you will enjoy your day and start a beau-
tiful life together.

Not all bridal showers are naughty or
kinky. You can have clean fun too. Re-
member older women often have great
advice for younger women. A word of
caution can be made to your guests to
remember older women present in mind.
Many of them may not be shocked.
Hope all goes well.
