Talented youngsters will be given the
chance to showcase their skills this
month and be seen, heard and possibly
chosen by US Entertainment Industry
professionals for further development.
This as Nigel's Touch Promotions & LLC
hosts a Talent Search and Showcase on
July 31, August 1 and 2 at The Cascadia
Hotel and Club Neon on Long Circular
Road, St James.
Over the course of three days, three local
entertainment professionals and three
New York-based professionals will screen
selected acts in search of "unique and usual
talents", as well as "superior vocalists" and
"vocalists with unique potential".
CEO of Nigel's Touch Promotions, Nigel G
Baptiste, explained the reasons behind the
"T&T has a lot of talent," he said, "but the
avenues for expression and the opportunities
to showcase and develop and harness these
talents into something lucrative are very lim-
ited. We want to change that and open the
doors for the next generation to be seen and
heard. We believe that more avenues for ex-
pression will assist in alleviating some of the
crime and the despair that we are seeing
manifested in this society due to frustration
and a lack of opportunities..."
Popular entertainment web portal, Over-
timeTT.com has teamed up with Nigel's
Touch Promotions to film and showcase
these auditions as they search for mem-
bers of a unique entertainment team.
"This is really two different searches in
one three day event," said Event
Spokesperson and Miami-based Actor,
"OvertimeTT is looking for exciting and
unique non vocal talents to build a very spe-
cific entertainment roster, while the repre-
sentatives brought in by Nigel's Touch
Promotions are looking for a wide range of
impressive vocalists performing in all genres.
Joseph stressed that "only serious indi-
viduals" should apply and advised partici-
pants to come prepared to entertain.
"We know and we understand that there
will be some amateurs and some people
who are still a bit shy," he explained, "but this
is a once in a lifetime opportunity and we
need all participants to take it very seriously
and come ready to show us what they've
got! We will not be wasting time on acts
that are unprepared -- basically everyone will
have 30 secs to make an impression on the
initial screening panel, before they even
make it into the room with the real judges.
Acts selected to move on past the first
round will perform for US-based execu-
tives: Jonathan Johnson -- Owner and Man-
aging Director of Midas Touch Promotions,
Elwood Legette -- Vice President, Artiste&
Repertoire, Neal Reed Worldwide, New
York and Producer, Vanderbilt Evans Jr. --
CEO of AngelicVoicesMusic.
These industry professionals are based
in New York and interested in vocal talent
across the range, including: singers, rappers,
reggae, pop and r&b vocalists. All talent vo-
calists are welcome to audition. Meanwhile,
OvertimeTT.com is looking specifically for
non-vocal talent and those acts
gifted/versed with unusual talents. Come-
dians, tricksters and magicians are there-
fore welcome as well.
The talent search and showcase is open to
all young people between the ages of 16 - 24
with passion and courage for entertainment.
Kees Dieffenthaller is fast becoming the
voice of summer. Over the last two years, he
and Kes the Band has released songs specifi-
cally for this time of year, first with My Love
on the Summer Riddim in 2012 and Can't
Wait on the Calabash Riddim last year.
For the 2014 holiday period most refer to as
summer in these parts, he has released End-
less Summer. The song, produced by Ricardo
"Ricky Blaze" Johnson out of Brooklyn, is on
the Uptown Julie Riddim.
"We does chase summer around the world,
we come from a place with endless summer so
why not write a song about it," said Kees, re-
cently back from a tour in Belgium.
"I am not claiming to be the king of anything,
we are just doing what we love," he said when
asked if he was claiming the King of Summer
A video for the song will be released in Mid-
July. The video was shot in New York.
"The song is New York meets Trinidad, so we
wanted to shoot it there."
In addition to Endless Summer, Kees has
only this week released his first ever single for
Cropover. His previous Cropover songs have
been on riddims.
Ah Just Wanna Jam was written by the pro-
lific writing team of Fullblown Entertainment
and produced by Darien Bailey, a Bajan musi-
cian in the HD band.
Kees said he would be performing the song
during Barbados' popular festival at Soca on de
Hill and over Cropover weekend, which will also
see him and the band in Canada for Caribana
and New York.
Kees said while touring, the band has been
busy making music, some of which we will hear
for Carnival 2015. The band is engaged in a cur-
rent musical project abroad but he was not
ready to reveal any details.
"We have nice things bubbling, working with
some people outside and creating/honing into
our sound and taking it to another level," he
